Simple poll, yes or no

Having won the Kentucy Derby and the Preakness, Big Brown has the possibility of being the first Triple Crown winner since 1978 this Saturday at the Belmont Stakes . He dominated his last two races winning the Kentucy Derby by 4 3/4 lengths and had explosive speed at the Preakness and easily won by 5 1/4 lengths. There is alot of talk about his cracked hoof but I don't believe that it will have much effect on him. They plan on patching it with an expoy that is harder than the hoof itself. The latest line I saw was 1/3, which means you bet three and win one, not real good if you want some big winnings but seems like easy money to me. My vote is on Big Brown winning the Crown.

Any thoughts?

I dont think so,the field against him isnt really good but he is a speed horse and i dont think that he will be able to hold at a mile and a half. Also that cracked hoof is worse than the trainer is saying it is. It wont hurt him permanently or cause him to collapse but will effect his speed and explosion, which are his main strengths.

I think Big Brown will win the TC. I heard a horse racing expert on ESPN say that the cracked hoof is the equivalent of a human being having a ripped fingernail. In other words, it won't affect him.

I don't think that those horse experts on ESPN are that knowledgeable. My uncle who has been been into horse racing for the past 20 years and owned numerous horses says that that injury to the hoof is worse than those experts say that they are. So its probably more comparable to a stress-fracture in a human foot,he will still be able to run on it but he will lose some of his explosiveness and speed.

I think he will, Big Brown is a monster. Isn't his main competition that Japanese horse coming out? I guess we'll see, going to be exciting.

It's time. Besides, I have to pull for him. About 12 years ago I was in a Winter parade in Lake Orion, MI and wore a costume that was this monster. The head was about 4 feet across and weighed about 50 pounds. It rested on your head and shoulders. It's name was Big Brown.

When did Desormeaux say this? I heard him after the race and he said that Big Brown just did not have it. (His exact phrase was "I just did not have a horse, today") That the heat combined with the horse fighting him a little prevented him from getting any push. With about 1/2 mile to go, Big Brown did not respond to him so he pulled him up.

Did he say anything different?

Yeah, that phrase is just "horsespeak", meaning that BB did not respond when KD wanted a push. It's like Nascar drivers saying that they did not have a car.

Just was not meant to be. Would love to be the horse's owner. Stud fees are going to be astronomical.

I think they said something in the nieghborhood of 50 mil just for stud rights, had he won it would have been over 100 mil, pretty good 190,000 dollar investment huh?

I don't know jack about horse racing, i watched the race for some reason.

Looks like BB was boxed in at the start and almost ran into the azz end of the horse in front twice, one time BB reared it's head back. Stayed in 3rd for about 2/3 of the race then did a JD and withdrew.
