Yeah yeah i know everybody needs help with these!

Thats right its only 10 clubs!

I've got room for 4 more. I cannot hit a FW for the life of me so I think im going to throw in a 2h or a 2+h to fill the driver to 3h gap.

Then do i fill the rest up with wedges? Should i learn to hit FW? I've got 4 spaces in my bag so any input or sugguestions would be great.

I don't know what to tell you about fairway woods or hybrids, but I'd defs add a gap and sand wedge to your bag.

I would learn to hit a 3 wood... no questions about it. Other than that I would add a couple wedges. It depends on the loft degree of your PW but I use a 52 and 56. Ive thought about a 60 but I seem to do ok manipulating the loft on my 56 if need be.

Also you might want to check the loft difference between your 4H and 5I. If I had a 4H to match my 3H the loft difference betwen my 4H (21*) and 5I (27*) would be pretty significant.

Hybrids are easy to hit and I affirm your thinking about adding a low lofted hybrid to your bag. I also think it is a good idea to consider a gap wedge, the loft of which will, of course, depend on the loft of your pitching wedge. In addition to a gap wedge, I agree with those who say you may wish to try a sand wedge. All my wedges have the same shaft and flex. Good luck.

I'd go with a 54* wedge and a 60* wedge.

And add a 3 wood.

Then your set.

Lofts are as follows: 3H 20 4h 23 5i 24 6i 29.5 7i 33 8i 37 9i 41 PW 45 Should i pick up a hybrid at say 16*? Along with wedges at 50, 55, and perhaps 60?

You could if you think you could hit it the distance you need to. Hitting a hybrid with that kind of loft really isnt much different than hitting a 3 wood. If you have a hard time hitting a 3wood... look at one that is low profile. Adams sells a good one and you can get it for around $50... its a few years old but a very good one.

As for your wedges... 50, 54, and 58 would probably work. If you arent hitting down on the ball, then a 58 or 60 wedge probably wont bring you more than 30 or so yards of distance. If you are hitting down on it correctly then a 58 or 60 can be very useful.

Well short game is the pride of my game. Anywhere from 100 yards in i can stick the green. I have a sandwedge in a friends set(my new set will be here today or tommorrow) and i use that for most of my 100 in shots. Unless i have a terrible lie off the green i tend to use a high flop to just make the ball sit.

So a 58* wouldn't be out of the question. I think the wedge idea was going to happen, but the real question is hybrid vs f.w. I can hit my dads cobra f speed 3 wood, but i can't say I've ever hit a 2h. I know i can hit a 3h and 4h. What is the benefit of using a fw over a 2h?

No easy answer ^^
In the end, it all boils down to what you prefer & what gives you confidence.
But it all depends on a number of factors. How long do you hit your driver? How well & consistent do you hit it? How big is your distance gap from 3h to your driver? How do the courses you play at look? How often do you use which clubs at them? At some courses long irons dominate, while others you only need a driver, the 6 iron & wedges.

I'd say start from the green & back as well as working to not working.

Happy with putter? 1/2 of your game is here.
Happy with wedges? The scoring sector. A good chip is a strokesaver.
Happy with irons? The bread 'n' butter
Happy with Hybrids? Well, the hybrids ^^
Happy with Driver/FW? Sounds like not.
Happy with distance & distance gaps? Sounds like not.

So fill your gap with what works. Be it irons for one, woods for another of hybrids for you. Should you learn to hit FW/driver? Hell yeah! But in due time. Focus on enjoying your game. That you do when it goes well, when you score. So if the hybrids work for you, go with them. If you get into trouble they also work better than the woods. At one point, you will have to learn to hit the driver in order to get starting distance, then the FW will come. Then you can decide if you like a #3/#5 FW in your bag. But in the end, make up your own mind. Don't take anyone elses advice over your gut feel, regardless of their HCP, position, claims or anything else.

Well i'd prefer a smooth distance gap. And once im not bouncing around clubs(new clubs to be here soon) i will be working on my driver until i can hit it.

I think my solution will be to go a 3w and 3 wedges. No real point in getting a 2h becuase where is a 2h gonna get me that a 3h and a little pitch isnt?
