So on a hunch I scored a lightly played Hi-Bore driver off the ebay. I've been having issues with my R7. This driver also has a stiff shaft (swing analyzer at Golf-Tec suggested it).

Long story short I have much more accuracy with this club after only hitting a small bucket at the range. What have been some of the other experiences of Hi-Bore owners.

I can offer some observations from watching my father-in-law play. He had an Adams driver with a stiff shaft that he used for the last year or so. He picked up a Hi-Bore (not sure if it was XL or XLS) with a stiff shaft and his accuracy has improved quite a bit.

I've been playing the HiBore XL, and been very accurate with it. overall it's a nice driver for the price that they are at.

I have a Hi-Bore XL and I really like it.

I did need to spend some time with it at the range at first, but I have the developed a fairly consistent swing with it.

Very long and straight even on slightly off center hits. The sound the club makes take a little getting used too.

Cleveland makes great stuff. I like all of my Cleveland clubs. For some reason I seem to hit them better than similar clubs from other manufacturers (probably a mental thing). If I didn't love the feel of my Mizuno irons and wedges so much, I would probably have an all Cleveland bag.

The sound the club makes take a little getting used too.

I completely disagree, I think the HiBore has a great sound (when compared to others on the market).

I have the original which has served me well for a few years. Once (or if) you get past the aesthetics of the "scoop" the club really performs well. Its strongest asset is it is very forgiving…more so then others I have it. I'll finish the year with this club, next year I'll be searching for a new driver (the HiBore will be a biased favorite before the search even begins).

I have tried the Cleveland XL and the XLS. Both are great clubs. XLS have the loudest sound ever. Whenever I take it to the range and hit some balls with it, everybody was looking at me coz it was so loud! After hitting balls with it, my ears have this ringing sound. It hurts my ears. So I eventually changed to Cobra. Aside from the deafening sound, I'd say it's a great club.

I have a HiBore 9.5 and a HiBore XL 10.5 and which between the two depending on ball filght. I wish I had an XL that was 9.5.

I have to admit the XL is crazy straight.

Have a hi bore in the garage. I just couldn't get used to the sound. The Callaway seems loud too. I miss the click sound.

I started playing a hibore with a v2 shaft last year and I can't see myself changing anytime soon. Great driver.

Mine has the Fujikara shaft and I hit it straight and 200-230 right now. I'll take that all day since I'm pretty strong with my 5i and 7i. On in two is within reach at most par fours so thats all I need.

I was at the range sunday at a covered range since it was raining. Well I let go and hit one with my typical swing and the noise startled me. I looked at the club face I looked at all sorts of things, thinking I broke it. Then the more I swung it the more I got into the noise. I did get one particular drive that was probably 250yds and it flew high and far and the noise was much more quiet. So we shall see.

This driver makes me feel like a God on the tee box. I feel so confident and love the feel of crushing the ball with it. I wouldn't say it is the longest driver out there but it does go long! I dont have a single complaint about this driver. I will look into their hybrids, and a fairwaywood next year for sure.

About a year ago I purchase a used original Hibore for $125. To this day it is the best driver I have ever it. Made me hit a consistent draw.

Just wondering: do you have the original, xl, or xls?

I just got my Hibore XL today. I'd love to tell you about how I'm crushing 300 yard drives with it and how it has changed my game, but that is difficult to do when the it comes out of the box in 2 pieces! Thanks a lot FedEx.

Now the question of the day is do I wait for however long it takes to send back the broken driver and get a new one sent or do I just go get it reshafted for another $80-100 but be crushing balls by Friday?

    • Looking to play in the Severna Park Golf league and it got rained out the first three weeks. I know the course is being renovated so it is not in great shape but the location is easy for me and I would love to meet some other golfers in my area. Anyone here in Maryland Annapolis area?
    • I like to look at the positives.  Overall you are fairly consistent down the center with most shots 20 yards or less off center.  On most fairways that should be in play.  Sure, you had some very short duds, but also if you look there is a good cluster in the 110-125 yard range.  Sure, we would all like to be longer, but knowing your typical shot is more important than trying to hit the 7-Iron 175 Yards.  Just take more club for longer shots and do not worry about it.  Your distances may increase as you improve over time so do not get caught up on that now.
    • Day 552, May 7, 2024 Played nine holes with @NatalieB with irons only from her tees. Didn't really finish out any holes, just hit the irons and approaches and some chips.
    • What has gone downhill? Have you been practicing properly, filming your swing, working on exactly what he suggested without straying? My thoughts are that your results/outcomes from a lesson a year ago probably aren't all that relevant anymore.  And carry distance is far more important than total distance. Total distance is going to vary significantly based on course conditions.
    • One thing that has helped me tremendously is to spray the club face with foot powder when I am on the range. Seeing ball impact can be quite helpful if you are hitting shots all over the place. It's not the cure all, but a good little thing to do on the range. The other thing, and I will forget to do it, is the pre-shot routine. Find me a spot a foot or so from the ball in-line with my target, take my stance, take the swing.  Sometimes you take a BS practice swing with no thought. Make it deliberate.  As far as swing thoughts. I have 3 check-points. First is set-up, Second is my take away, Third is my downswing. I cant explain what I think I just know in my mind. Its a feeling that I have that feels right and experience has shown that if I follow those 3 thoughts more than likely the outcome will be what I was looking for. Now, thinking about the feeling and executing it properly is a whole different thing, that;s why I practice, I used to be over a 20 handicap, I am down to a 15.1 in about a year.  I feel like its good progress. the goal is a 10 by the end of the year. If I make it great, if not, hey at least Im not in Gaza. LOL
