IN MY TOWN THERE ARE 4 COURSES. One is private, but playable with permission or sponsor. about 3 times a week, m-f, i usually show up at 545pm to BCC municipal course and warm up a bit on the putting or chipping greens. then like at 615pm i'll slide on a few yards to the left of the chipping green and play the last 4 holes for FREE. this is easy to do because i can see when they are closing down the main building windows with the aluminum covers for security overnight.

ANYONE else do the same, or have a way to play FREE?

Why would anyone want to play for free? It does cost $$$ to keep up a course and with increased cost of fuel ect... It now costs more than ever to keep a course in shape.

Playing for free IS stealing from the course. If everyone did this, in very short order, there would be no course.

Man up, and pay. (sorry ladies)

Why do they let you play for free?

Because I'm me?

Obviously. My golf coach's brother works there. I'm good enough friends with both of them to know everyone in the proshop. I rarely go though. It's not a fun course.

I wouldnt be able to just jump on a couple of holes with out paying, but if I'm behind some seriously slow people and no one is behind me I'll typically go back and re do the previous hole.

the course is a city course, which means the city does not depend on its patrons for upkeep or payroll money. if it did then it would go out of business because there is not much action at the course. i know this because i am there 3 times a week and saturday sunday. not much money coming in. on weekends i pay full price for 18 holes and cart.

anyhow, it closes at 6pm, and the people in the main building leave and close the security blinds. any players with rented carts still playing can remain until dark, the only employees there after closing are the cart guys. they start picking up flags at 7pm. they see me and have never said anything. they actually like how i hit the balls and we share laughs.

some guy sent me a bad reputation message and called me a jackass. sounds like he wishes he could play free golf and be kool with the workers.

"kool"? I am not the one that sent you rep, but I dont think its "kool" what your doing? How is this different than walking into a city office and stealing from them? Like you said the patrons dont support the place? That is crazy. If you were doing this at any of my courses that I play, I would turn you in. Some people work hard and earn what they can to enjoy this great game. You feel as though its your right because you pay on the weekends? Makes no sense.

It's not a matter of envy. I'm cool with the workers and cart guys who tell me to go out and play again after I'm done with 18...or who'll charge us twilight during regular hours at times. Let us pay for 1 cart but say let the other guy hop on. etc... but we offer $. Sure the city doesn't rely on the golf course as a means of its sole income, but regardless it's still income & it's in a way stealing.

So please, don't get up high on yourself b/c you play 4 holes for free and you're cool with the staff. That's just like saying: the stripper gave you an extra song during a lapdance and she liked you....really really liked you.

I'm not going to say you should goto hell for being a bad person... god knows when I was a kid, me and my buddies would play about 20 holes in the morning with just a 3wd and SW. hell, we'd sneak on as well in the deep winter when I came home on leave, just my dad and I and some serious snow gear, and play a couple holes. That was long time ago, and don't do it anymore but I have to say.. the course had a lot of thieves! Young and old, many people who lived right on it (we lived about 1 min walk from there) did it. Nobody was disrespecting the course or anyone paying and playing.. hell even some of the rangers were pretty cool with the Night sneakers.

The only issue I would have is saying it's free golf.. but who am I..

ok, it might not be FREE golf, maybe i can call it no fee golf.
i dont think there is anything wrong with it, because another example of this happening is downtown parking meters. i know for sure because the sign says so. well the street parking meter needs to be paid during day hours, but as soon as 5pm hits the clock, u dont have to pay to park even if there is a meter there.
so anyone who puts money into it at that time or later is just silly. so why would anyone pay $10 to play 4 holes at 6pm when the golf course cashier closes up. MAYBE WHAT I'LL DO IS TAKE A VIDEO OF ME SHOWING UP AT 6PM AND THEN SHOW THE CLOSED SECURITY AND THEN SHOW ME HAVING A LAUGH WITH THE CART GUY AND THEN SHOW ME PLAYING 4 HOLES.

ANYBODY KNOW ANY WAY TO GET "100% TOTALLY ANYTIME" FREE GOLF?

You obviously just dont get it. The parking meter analogy has nothing to do with this. The parking spots are still open at night. The golf course is closed. You are doing nothing more than breaking and entering. How about just getting a job there. You seem to want to hang out there so bad and not pay.

You should try that, and then we can all laugh when you post your next topic saying you got banned and charged with trespassing. It dosen't matter that you are friends with the cart guy. If I was the owner or manager involved, and I found out you were even playing one hole for free, I would ban you for life and terminate any employees involved.

I think I am going to take the wife to a fancy restaurant tonight and then skip out on the bill because I know the dishwasher there. I sure hope you own your own business someday and experience somebody stealing from you without your knowledge or consent.

i was just going to say this. who cares if the security is closed? you aren't supposed to play when its closed. and then coming on here and bragging about "free" golf? you complained about losing the rep point? i didn't do it, but you deserve it. and then complaining and saying "i bet you wish you were cool with the people who work there" lame lame lame lame lame

Indeed. The best analogy I can come up with is sneaking into first or business class from your coach seat after takeoff. Like the golf club it doesn't cost them anything extra to host you (since the better drinks, meals etc are essentially fixed costs) but you are still enjoying a service that costs money to provide, and others have paid for.

ANYONE else do the same, or have a way to play FREE?

I guess if you were to buy a yearly membership and play so much that your average cost per round was 0.49 cents you could round it down to zero making it a free round.

Hey Dent, Maybe he should tell the cart guys to make the tee time for him so he can get their discount or play with them for free. might as well right?

and dirty dave, your analogies are pointless because they don't pertain to the situation. You're talking about public parking which they say: fees till 5pm. as compared to a facility where you have to pay to play. 1 you're taking advantage of the rules so you're probably that guy that loses his 1st ball off of the tee, hits a good shot and then gets up and down and says you got a birdie or par. and you're feelin yourself even more saying: "the cart guys like to watch the way I hit." I don't care how good you are, saying something like that is just arrogant and fr fr fresh. I'll be in Dallas oct 11 - 14. how bout we get up for a paid 18 of golf

    • Day 134 (26 Apr 24) - played Minnesott today, worked with the mid-irons and approaches (especially the 7i).  Scoring was a little higher, but I was focused on making the needed adjustments to the swing to achieve desired distances.
    • I honestly believe if they play longer tees by 300-400 yards, closer to or over 7,000 yards, more rough, tougher greens, women's golf will become much more gripping.  BTW, if it weren't for Scottie killing it right now, men's golf isn't exactly compelling.
    • Day 542, April 26, 2024 A lesson no-show, no-called (he had the wrong time even though the last text was confirming the time… 😛), so I used 45 minutes or so of that time to get some good work in.
    • Yeah, that. It stands out… because it's so rare. And interest in Caitlin Clark will likely result in a very small bump to the WNBA or something… and then it will go back down to very low viewership numbers. Like it's always had. A small portion, yep. It doesn't help that she lost, either. Girls often don't even want to watch women playing sports. My daughter golfs… I watch more LPGA Tour golf than she does, and it's not even close. I watch more LPGA Tour golf than PGA Tour golf, even. She watches very little of either. It's just the way it is. Yes, it's a bit of a vicious cycle, but… how do you break it? If you invest a ton of money into broadcasting an LPGA Tour event, the same coverage you'd spend on a men's event… you'll lose a ton of money. It'd take decades to build up the interest. Even with interest in the PGA Tour declining.
