Long hitters, where do you practice your drives?

For those of you that hit 290+, where do you practice your drives?
There are 3 driving ranges near me that I go to depending on where I'm at (work, home, near the course, etc) and 2 are short at 220 yds with a 100ft net, and the third that I've been at mainly is 250 yds with a 100ft net.

I used to hit the baseboards on the short ranges and 1 hop the long range but with my recently acquired swing, I'm consistantly hitting at least 1/2 way up the net on the long range. 1 month ago I wouldn't think it possible for anyone to hit it over the netting. I'm consistantly hitting 285+ with a few 300+ drives on the course the last couple weeks with a slight draw/fade depending on ball placement.

Both yesterday and today I hit balls over the net (1x yesterday, 3x today). The ones that went over the net were towering fades. Most of my drives hit the net on the downward arc, with a good traj.

I tried to back off and swing at 70% but started pulling and or hooking. Once I started hitting harder again they straightened out. So swinger easier isn't gonna help me at the course. Plus, after hitting a few that high on the net and with the loud HiBore XLS it draws attention and fellow golfers are egging me on to keep hitting it harder. Not bragging, but it's kinda cool to have peeps stop and watch and come over to chat.

Anyways, back on point, where do you guys go to practice full swing drives? I'm really enjoying this newfound swing speed and power but if I hit the condo's across from the range again I'm sure I'll be persona non grata as well as buying windows. I live in the city, so I haven't found a longer range yet.

ummmmm, my driving ranges measure 330 and 280 respectively. I have hit it out of the 280 from the elevated tees, but i don't try to do it often. I have never hit it out of the 330 range (downhill but still too far), but i saw a couple huge guys in construction clothes hitting them out the back consistently once... that was nasty...

I totally understand what you mean about a 70% swing messing up your timing... I am the same way. One thing you can do is reduce the length of your back swing, or practice hitting punch shot/low drives.

And don't ever pretend you aren't bragging...

At the point of that net isn't it already pretty obvious if your ball is fading or drawing? I guess I'm confused how a less than maximum distance would effect you practicing your drive so long as you can see draw/fade.

Yes, I can see what the ball is doing before it gets to the net, my issue is that I want to practice my normal drives but I'm afraid of hitting it over.

The range at the club is around 300-330 uphill , it also ends in 3-4 backyards with no fences. I consistantly roll it in there yards.

The range I usually go to has about a 40 ft fence 270ish away, but behind it is trees so it's safe to go over. My ball flight is far too low to carry it anyway, I've hit it on the fly a couple times, but never flown over it.

Driver: Nike VRS Covert 

3 Wood: Taylormade Rocketballz

Hybrid: Nike Sumo 18*

Irons: Titleist AP1 4-PW

I live in Kansas. I can hit gigantic bombs at any given range.

driver: FT-i tlcg 9.5˚ (Matrix Ozik XCONN Stiff)

You can hit the ball 330 uphill?! THATS BEASTLY DEEP! How far do you hit the ball on level ground, or even on an elevated tee box? Also do you compete in the Long Drive tour thing? I bet you could win that easily.

1) Why do you care if it goes over?

1) Cuz ther are condo's across the street from the back net and I'd prefer to spend my money on my own than someone else's

I've only had this problem on one range....and it is more of a place to warm up before your round than a driving range.....at Persimmon Hill GC in Johnston, SC.

Aside from that I've never run out of "landing strip".

I suppose it would be a cool problem to have.

i think it is a real disadantage not to see the ball land and finish, there are no ranges near me that are long enough, i am going to start hitting on an old public golf course, i think there is 400yards of grass - just buy a bunch of cheap golf balls - the advantage will hopefully be that because the golf balls belong to me i will REALLY concentrate on hitting them straight.

Level ground I've had drives that consistantly go 350-360 yrds. On an elevated tee at my home course I can drive the ball 380-390 yrds But I prefer to swing at 90% and hit the ball 300+ I'm more accurate with a 90% swing compared to a 110%. The long drive thing does'nt float my boat, shooting lower scores does though.
