Just to put this up here if no one took the time to look for it.

Here is a list I compiled regarding iPhone apps related to golf.

Caddy
PasturePool Golf
GreenFinder (Crazy application, can find breaks)
Golf Tracker
vCaddy
Birdie
Teeshot (Supposedly, the best of the bunch)
Hey, What's the golf score?
Golf-Ace
BreakMeter
Golf Memoir
iYardage

This is as of 8/20 which I have tracked on iTunes and everywhere else that is available.

I can't say I have used any of the apps yet, but if someone has used any of it, please comment and let us know what you think. I know that Google has positive results with Teeshot (1 person only), the others...well you can check iTunes and see the comments there, most are not that great.

I am looking to purchase one of the apps but currently, I'm in the decision and comparing stage so, like I said, if anyone has used any of these applications, please give us a small review.

Price aside and what I think is worth it in comparison to all that is currently available.

These are probably what I would consider to have with me on the course.

TeeShot
GreenFinder
BreakMeter

Teeshot is just wonderful period! Granted right now it's only tracking one person, 1.5 is expected to release really soon which will address the foursome and just an onslaught of other features that will kick the rest to the ground.

GreenFinder, is more of a locator of courses. Very handy if you are travelling (and have your gear with you) and need a course. It does other little GPS features that I think is awesome to have.

BreakMeter, well...I can say for one thing, this is a nutty application. Nutty in a good sense. It actually works. It does take some time but the accelerometer on the iPhone just shows you what it's capabilities can do! I thin it's more of a fun/learning tool.

Correction...Teeshot. 1.5 has officially been uploaded to the Appstore. Just a matter of a couple more days before Apple releases the update.

It's also illegal for use (rules of golf illegal, not "police and handcuffs" illegal of course).

Like I said...."I think it's more of a fun/learning tool".

I'm pretty sure everyone here knows that. At least we would think. :)

I just bought TeeShot, based on y'alls recommendations. It'll be cool when version 1.5 comes out with the GPS yardage measurements.

I purchased the Birdie app while waiting for the Scorecard extension to iPhone/iTouch to come out. Quite disappointed....actually, it pretty much blows. There really isn't a whole lot to the app and I have to enter the hole handicaps and par for each hole each time I use it (which was once in the past month).

The GPS in the iPhone is accurate to about +/- 9 meters, I think I've read. Really not very accurate at all for golf. You could be 15 meters off pretty easily.

    • I honestly believe if they play longer tees by 300-400 yards, closer to or over 7,000 yards, more rough, tougher greens, women's golf will become much more gripping.  BTW, if it weren't for Scottie killing it right now, men's golf isn't exactly compelling.
    • Day 542, April 26, 2024 A lesson no-show, no-called (he had the wrong time even though the last text was confirming the time… 😛), so I used 45 minutes or so of that time to get some good work in.
    • Yeah, that. It stands out… because it's so rare. And interest in Caitlin Clark will likely result in a very small bump to the WNBA or something… and then it will go back down to very low viewership numbers. Like it's always had. A small portion, yep. It doesn't help that she lost, either. Girls often don't even want to watch women playing sports. My daughter golfs… I watch more LPGA Tour golf than she does, and it's not even close. I watch more LPGA Tour golf than PGA Tour golf, even. She watches very little of either. It's just the way it is. Yes, it's a bit of a vicious cycle, but… how do you break it? If you invest a ton of money into broadcasting an LPGA Tour event, the same coverage you'd spend on a men's event… you'll lose a ton of money. It'd take decades to build up the interest. Even with interest in the PGA Tour declining.
    • Oh yea, now I remember reading about you on TMZ!
