I see alot of members from England on this board, so I thought I would throw this out now (while I still have the chance!):

Only Chelsea and Liverpool are ahead of City in the Standings as of today! In fact, Arsenal and United have not kept upwith City! If history holds true, I won't be able to say this for long, but I can right now! LOL

Actually my wife is Mancunian and the big City Fan in the family. After we met, I became one by default! They started off strong last year and actually finished in the top 10 for the first time in a long time, and now with new ownership with deeper pockets than Thaskin, they may become MANCHE$TER CITY and compete with AR$ENAL!

Seriously, they look like they are doing the right things, hopefully they can finish top 6 this year. Still probably a year or two from competing with the top 4!

They also just signed one of the best players in the world in Robinho, so that won't hurt. I don't keep up with the Premiership religiously, but I like following it a little.

Yeah I just saw that too; can you believe how much they spent for him?

I'm glad we get the Fox Soccer Channel, we've seen all 3 games so far this year.

As a supporter of a lower league club I find it rediculas the ammount of money that is floating around certain clubs in the Premier League. What is the point of playing in a competition you have no chance of winning? Where is the fun in watching a team when you know with 95% certianty what the outcome of the game will be?

Football as a sport is dead ,the mega millions being ploughed into the game has seen to that,Chelsea and now Man City are punching above their wieght for no other reason than having rich owners.
Eufa have been talking about only allowing clubs to spend money they generate through football.I hope they implement this and we can all get back to having a more competetive league where everyone has a chance of success

I'm a footie fan. I root for the top EPL teams and players such as Ronaldho, Drogba, Tevez and now Robinho. Hopefully Kaka will go to Chelsea.


I'm not an avid MU fan ( to cut the story short I was a QPR fan while rest of my mates were). I had a schadenfreude glee when MC nearly took maximum points from MU last season. Won't it be great if City beat United in the UEFA Super cup (ala FC Zenit) next year.

Another reason why football is on its last legs.The above post states he is a fan of the English Premier League yet dosnt mention one Englishman.Roots for the top teams.Why is that ? why not the bottom team thats busting a gut just to survive without the injection of £millions that have been laundered from around the world.

He was a QPR fan? whats that all about? football fans are born and die supporting the same team,they dont change to suit the current top team.Maybe he may go back to Rangers one day, they have some very rich backers now

Are you suggesting that the Football Authorities are accepting laundered money?

BTW it looks like you have not identified your true colours. Are you ashamed of your club? On the English team Owen Hargreaves is by far the best player. Beckham, past his prime, still remains my idol.. I used to like Scholes but his last match (Euro Super Cup) revealed that he is a cheat (not cheeky as commented by the sycophant BBC football commentator). Another Englander, Neville, made a couple of unforgiveable amateurish blunders for a pro. So you have to forgive me if I don't sound so jingoistic.

It would be great if this scenario is realized. Rooting for City to win UEFA cup and United to repeat. This will reinforced that the EPL is the best league globally.

Being Canadian born myself I have a bias opinion regarding our friend Owen.Hope he can sort his knee out,but it looks like he may be a crock' . Scholes is niether a cheat or cheeky he is an idiot.Nevile has always been prone to the odd calamity,the biggest cheer at England games is when he is left out of the team!

The main problem with the EPL at the moment is trhat it is no longer English. The top clubs are owned by foriegn qwners & filled with foriegn players. & yet the FA do not seem to understand why England are finding it harder every year to find a decent national team. When are they going to wake up & place some sort of restriction on the number of foriegn players a club can put on the field . If this does not happen shortly in the EPL, & serrie A . We will end up with 1 world league & several countries with no national league & increasingly weakening national teams.

You are correct Pom.Not only is the forign invasion and big money destroying the National side it gives little opportunity to young players to progress to the first team.There were some stats published last week that said only 30% of the players that took the field in the premier last weekend would be eligible for the England side.

Still England are only playing Andorra tonight,a 1-0 thrashing looks on the cards!

Anyone see City clean sheet Portsmouth 6-0? All I got to see was the highlights.

6-0; I don't know that I've seen them score more than 3 before (since I've been a fan anyway)! Hope it's a sign of more to come. Hope they don't peak way early like they did last year, it'd be nice to see a top 6 finish this season.

      I don’t measure my intake either. I generally have a black coffee, a bottle of soda, some sweet tea at home, and anything in between is water. An ice cold bottle of water is one of my favorite things. It feels like an immediate refresher for my body. I’ll admit that I need to drink a little more though.

      For such a nice membership, there have been some bad incidents in the past few years.  We had someone voted out a couple of years ago over something he did and he harassed the board members for three months until he moved out of the area.   Generally they’ve tried to do things like tournament handicaps and identify certain people who they know should be lower and adjust it somehow.  I can understand not wanting to go thru something like the guy who was voted out again i emailed the pro who forwarded it to the handicap committee.  They are going to see what can be done.  I walked someone thru what happened and they are going to nudge him to post the score from the match and see what he does.  Since he didn’t put anything in the electronic scoring past 13, based on how he played 14 and 15 plus having to take bogey on 16-18 for after he left, he should post 83.  We’ll see if it’s even higher,   Since he was really even thru 13, then doubled 14 and parred 15 my guess is he really shot 75 being generous and giving him 2 pars and a bogey on the three holes he didn’t play.    i shot 88, getting 16 shots for my course handicap which is net even and I lost on 13.  We do brackets where handicaps should be within 4-5 of each other.  Most matches only have 1-2 shots as a difference between players  neither of us posted the score yet.  There was something in the match play rules about whether or not to post your score.  I couldn’t remember if we were supposed to or not.  I don’t think he was going to post that, because even with his inflated score it would be the lowest score in his recent 20. Lucky I didn’t because they want to see what he does post and they don’t want me posting so he can try to calibrate his score.
