Since I live in Minnesota, the end of the season is fast approaching. My goal for the last few weeks is to golf a nice course each weekend. Most of the summer has been furiously spent on municipal courses, which are relatively well-kept and very affordable. I figure it's the time of the season to really treat myself, as I've been happy with my progress this year. Last few weekends I've golfed Bunker Hills, Prestwick, and Edinburgh. I'll try to make it to Deer Run, Stonebrooke, and Dakota Ridge. With fall discount rates, these higher end courses are a bargain now.

Any other golfers from Minnesota? If so, what "nicer" courses around the metro area would you recommend? Also, let me know if you would like to join me in this season-ending "dessert".

Do any of the golfers living in colder climates have any last-minute goals or aspirations before the snow hits?

Mine was to get my HDCP to the 6's, but that won't happen.

shot under par a couple of times before the end of the year. I would need to improve my up and down percentage.

I too am from MN (and would love to join you on these golf excursions if it were to work out ).

I've always enjoyed Willinger's . Golf up North is fantastic as well. Not sure what kind of trips that you want to make though. Keller in Maplewood is a classic, not in line with most of those on your list but a classic and quite enjoyable none the less. Another gem for a scenic round of golf is Lester Park in Duluth. Again, not one of the top courses in the state but I'll take 27 quality holes overlooking Lake Superior any day.

I played at North Oaks CC today and that was a very nice course as well. Not sure how you can get on w/out a member though (I'm guessing that you can't).

If you want to venture Eastward, I've always enjoyed Troy Burne as well.

I'm sure that there are many others, these are just off the top of my head.

Mine's to get down into the mid to low 70s. I have to work on my putting, I average 37-39 putts per round and I usually shoot in the low 80s. I figure if I improve my putting average to around 30 putts per round, I can do this.

Mine was to get below a 10 HDCP but I just got some blades. So I doubt that'd be happening. Who knows, maybe it will.

I've never played Willinger's or Troy Burnes. I have heard good things about these two and will add them to the wish list. Keller I've definitely played many times through the years, it's a great old course and always neat to see all of the pictures in the club house from the Minnesota Open and the PGA. North Oaks... haha, I actually used to caddy there many years ago! So I know the course like the back of my hand... even as a private course, I think many public courses in the state are better. Still a fun track though!

I made a couple of end of season goals recently. One is similar to yours. I plan to play at least Troy Burne and Stoneridge outside the Twin Cities as well as The Harvester & Legacy in the Des Moines area. Also, decided the other day I wanted to birdie all the holes at my regular track.

Ya know, I would love to break 40 (for 9) just once ... I think that if I start THINKING more about my shots (making sure that my shot selection is actually the correct one) then I can make smarter shots and I can do it ...
