For the benefit of our NYC members, I just saw this announcement from the LPGA about a live appearance by your favorite and mine, Natalie G:

"LPGA Tour player Natalie Gulbis will be in New York City today, October 7th, selling cupcakes to raise money for charity. If you are in the area between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. ET, be sure to stop by Rockefeller Center at 57th and 5th to support Gulbis and her great cause."

Someone needs to go and post a picture!

"I don't care how good your iron play is, if you can't drive it in the fairway you might as well break 'em up or use 'em...

I think you must be right. I don't know how I missed that news flash. Here's an article on Trump's announcement. .

Thats funny, my girl sent me this email today...I'll ask if she met her

On a totally random note, Joan & Melissa Rivers were selling cupcakes outside of Tiffany this morning as part of the Celebrity Apprentice filming so our VP made us all wear Tiffany Blue scarves and buy cupcakes from them. I had to sign a film release form. I am now officially a celebrity just like you. Would you like my autograph?

So yeah, I guess it was Celeb Apprentice.

As I was watching Paula Creamer win last week, the question in my mind was where is NG?

Now I know the answer - doing something more important like selling cupcakes.

Has anyone bothered to tell her that she's a pro golfer, not a street vendor?

Sure, sure, I know that she's on the celebrity apprentice but it's not like she's Tiger & can afford to take the occasional tournament off.

I think she's in a very critical time in her golfing career where she could either (1) rise to the challenge, or (2) disappear for good like a golfing version of Anna Kournikova.

Sometimes I wonder what goes on in that region directly below her TaylorMade cap.

As I was watching Paula Creamer win last week, the question in my mind was where is NG?

The Samsung was an invitation only event for which players had to qualify by either winning specific events or by virtue of a position in the world rankings (and maybe money list?) Gulbis didn't qualify/wasn't invited.

Regardless of what one mught think about Gulbis personally, I hav never heard anyone dispute that she is extremely driven to win and that she works harder on her game than just about anyone on the LPGA Tour.

I am pretty sure Anna Kournikova is better off financially than many top 10 female tennis players. Same goes for Gulbis. We all know that popular golfers make there money off the course, rather than on (sponsors). I think she also realizes that the LPGA will be no more once the Wong Chong Chings take over, so she better get her jugs out in the public more to insure future projects/compensation lol *edited* I should say that the LPGA wont be as popular in AMERICA once South Korea completely takes over.

Yeah, let's all laugh at stupid racist comments.

Not. End of THAT line of commentary.

Which tends to prove my point. All the more reason to be concentrating on improving her game because obviously she is at a critical point - the proverbial 'fork in the road'. Better to concentrate on being invited/qualifying for the Samsung or the next tournament than becoming a sideshow attraction in a tabloid tv show.

Don't worry Harry , my comments aren't a personal slight at you, just my opinion. I'm just picking up on a recent podcast discussion of Erik's where similar sentiments were expressed.

Wow. How many times

did your parents drop you on your head as a baby before they abandoned you? Racist and sexist in the same sentence. You are truly a neanderthal. And for it, you just earned a spot on my ignore list. While I would normally do so without bothering to post about it, in this instance I think it's important that someone let our female and/or Asian readers know that some of us aren't happy about comments like yours, and are willing to say something about it.

Jez Lemay. Inexcusable. And that's from a guy who doesn't mind going out on a limb for a laugh (e.g., my thread title). But that's beyond the pale.

Bradpet-

No worries. I don't take things personally unless someone makes them personal. I fully believe that people can honestly disagree and still have an intelligent discussion about it. (With notable exceptions. See above.) From my perspective, I am not a huge Gulbis fan. Nor do I actually think she is smokin' hot like some do. But everything I have heard or read indicates that she works very hard on both her game and her fitness for the game. So if she chooses to appear on a reality TV show, I'm willing to give her the benefit of the doubt until and unless I hear something that changes my mind. And, considering the current state of PR with the LPGA, I'm willing to bet that she received more than a little encouragement from the LPGA to participate . . . especially considering I got an email from the LPGA this morning informing me of the cupcake sale...

Oh my goodness?? The LPGA did that?? [lost for words]

As far as Natalie goes, I certainly wish her all the best & it would be good to see her attracting attention by winning golf tournaments rather than by other 'assets' (which mind you appeared to increase in size overnight judging by historical photos). I saw Natalie live at an Australian Ladies PGA tournament in '07. She didn't set the world on fire at the tournament. Of the Americans, Christie Kerr did much better. I had to laugh at one stage. Natalie was waiting for golfers to clear the green on a par 4 (in her 'spray on' outfit). She then seemed to decide that a good stretch was in order. So (in the middle of the fairway in front of a large gallery) she starts bending, stretching, reaching, twisting, turning (I'm sure you get the picture). Talk about a modern day version of golf porn.

Agreed she needs to be working on her game, no doubt about it. At the moment is appears that she has been lured away by more endorsement and non-golf projects that are seemingly more lucrative.

Any opinions on whether she delivers the coup de gras and poses for Hefner? I'd think that would end her LPGA career.

She can do whatever she likes. She doesn't need to do anything. Like most players with any profile at all, she will earn a lot more off the course than on it and she's cashing in while she can. _ and this is probably a freebie anyway. She says she's working on that hideous head drop thing but she still does it, so I don't think she'll ever be a serious force. Have to say that she comes across as a really nice person although I don't go for the "look". But at least you won't have to watch what is possibly the ugliest swing in professional golf if you watch her selling something. In any case, so what if she spends a few hours or a day doing publicity? Good on her!

I'm with Lefty on this one. Sounds to me that she has reached that fork in the road and is now figuring out where the dollars are going to come from. If her 15 mins of fame are coming to an end then extending them in a reality show format isn't the end of the world.

Its not like she's appearing in informercials in the wee hours of the morning, then she took a fork in the road but wandered into the woods never to find the fairway again.
