Re: Previous thread variant - list all architects you've 'played'

About 15 years ago, I picked up a book called "The Golf Course" (Geoffry Cornish & Ron Whitten). It launched an interest in golf course architecture.

I have not had the good fortune to play any of the courses from the great designers of the so called Golden Age. Living in Arizona, most everything is new. I do like to make note of who designed a course and try to look at the different styles and characteristics.

A few of note in no particular order:
RT Jones
RT Jones II
Rees Jones
Dye
T. Fazio
WP Bell
WF Bell
Red Lawrence
Morrish & Weiskopf
Coore & Crenshaw
Doak
Kavanaugh
Gary Panks
Art Hills
Scott Miller
Keith Foster
Schmidt & Curley
Jack Snyder
Fought & Lehman
Greg Nash

Re: Previous thread variant - list all architects you've 'played'

I'm into playing 'interesting' layouts more than anything. Don't mind the courses that wind through housing developments, either. Down in FL, the wife and I play a beautiful track designed by Paul Azinger!

In NE Ohio, we have several Nicklaus designed (2 are Signature course) privates. I've been able to play 3 of the 4. Also played several in FL as well. Really enjoy his courses even though I'm a L to R player. Many of his courses setup better for the fade. And I usually pay in strokes for this reason.

Literally my favorites are anything designed by Pete Dye. What a diabolical mind!

I also take time to look around while playing at a nice track. So much of what was designed into and around the course is discovered through an open mind and open eyes. Lots of 'cool stuff' to be seen other than fairways, greens and hazards.
