I've recently gone back to using my old r7 quad, and am considering re-shafting it. I was curious as to what some potential shafts are that I could get for it that don't cost an arm and a leg. If you have a suggestion and can give some info on the shaft like why it's good for so and so and what it costs that'd be awesome. Thanks guys :)

proforce v2 is the best shaft under $100 bucks in my opinion. if you like a higher launch and more torque, go with the v2 highlaunch. both retail around $80 or so. straight up the best shaft for the price. btw, DL3 just won at Disney and he plays v2's in his driver and woods. just saying that they aren't expensive but they are amazing

Take a look at the Aldila line, too. They make really good shafts, particularly, the Voodoo and NV series.

i got a chance to hit the voodoo the other day. first off, it is way overpriced. secondly, i liked my vs proto better. as far as im concerned, its all hype on the voodoo. but the nv is also a good shaft. king cobra II, if i was you i would look at the v2 and also the nv and vs proto. all 3 are great shafts that wont break the bank too much

Which Voodoo shaft did you hit? Also, were the specs identical or nearly identical to your UST?

I only ask because it won't be a fair comparison if the answer to the second question is "no."

Can't forget about the Graffalloy line either. They make some good low price shafts. Playing with the prolaunch red right now and really like it. Had the blue in another driver and liked that shaft as well. Under $100 installed.

Spot on about the V2! At least give it a look see. It's not just a great shaft for the price, it's a great shaft! I get a ton of feedback with mine and the ball flight is very, very consistent. I'm playing a flex too stiff in my driver, plus it was tipped an inch. God I just admitted to that...haha.

Though my epic is a great shaft, it just doesn't feel the same as my V2 :/ I want it back.

I agree that the V2 is a great shaft, but about the VS Proto, that shaft retails for about $180, I wouldn't call that "affordable," maybe you do?

I personally like the epic shaft more than the v2, but they're both good shafts. You really just need to go try them all out and see what's best for you. Oh, btw have you considered buying a shaft on ebay? They're usually only a fraction of the retail price, and i haven't been disapppointed yet!

You really just need to go try them all out and see what's best for you.

And with new fitting technology that is now easier than ever. Even if it will be going in a different head, you can compare different shafts with the same demo head. You'll get a more true shaft by shaft comparison without having to hit say, a Callaway with a V2, Ping with a Prolaunch, Titleist with and Aldila, etc.

oh wups i didnt know it was that much. i paid $90 for mine, brand new. and also to the person who asked me about the voodoo, it was very similar to the v2. i think just a few grams lighter but the same flex and length.

I ended up getting fitted today and went with a v2 in a stiff. He told me it was the best shaft for my dollar. I'm pretty pumped, thanks for the help guys.
