Bought these as my second set of irons. Did I get in over my head? Does anyone have personal experience? Here is the set that I bought. I didn't realize they were 2* flat till right as I post this. Will that affect me a lot? I guess I should just take an extra club each time?

def wouldnt say over your head. they are a little tougher to hit than the OS but not that bad.

all in all a nice club. i played with them for a season when i was in New Zealand.

as for the 2* flat, it will make a little diff. i am 2* flat, but was able to hit my old standard lie clubs fine.

The 2* flat is the lie, or angle of the shaft from the ground, not the loft, or angle of the clubface, so I don't think it will affect your distance. A flat lie is better for shorter golfers, more upright for taller (I think). Take a look at your divot when you hit them, if they are deeper on the heel side then the clubs are too flat, but you could probably get them bent up to standard.

I play the Taylormade RAC LT2 irons and I like them a lot. I am 6' tall and mine are bent 1* upright. It would probably cost you under $50 to get on a lie board and have them bent to match your personal specifications (height, swing, etc.). 2* flat is typically for a person who is on the shorter side. If you are not shorter, the lie might cause problems for you such as hitting it to the right.

Thanks for that. I thought that meant for instance a 27* club was bent to a 29*.

Over your head? I wouldn't go that far, but these are not going to be as easy to hit as many other iron sets. In some ways, they might help you get better because you'll have to hit them more consistently to get good results. If you can hit them close to the sweet spot I think you'll be very happy with them. If you have trouble getting the ball in the air and do not want to spend time practicing, then these might not be the best set for you, but even as a 20ish handicap, you'll probably be OK.

The bigger problem might be the lie angle. A flatter lie is often a fitting for someone shorter or someone who has a shallow 'angle of attack' with their irons. It would be a good idea to get fit before you play too much and see if they are close. Being that they are a 'cast' iron and not 'forged', normally they are not as adjustable for lie angle. If you were a standard lie, having a cast club adjusted by 2* is more than what is recommended and attempts to do so may not go well (or they might...)

Hope they fit perfectly and you're playing as a single digit within a year.

Do you pull you normal irons, if you do you could actually bennitfit from a flatter lieng club.
