Warm up with a Swing Weight?

NE warm up with a swing weight? My buddy had one & I tried it before a round today & it seemed to help me get loose pretty easy.

NE one else use these? It was just like a doughnut you could put on the end of the club.

I just bought a Body Bar that weighs 6 pounds. Swing this like you would your driver and in no time you will be a stronger, more powerful golfer. They have a website at bodybars.com.

Don't get anything over a 6 pound though. And for older golfers, go for the 4 pounder.

I use one. They are good. Much more comfortable than swinging two clubs at once.

I have a weight that velcro fastens over the iron face. I keep it in one of the outside mesh pockets of my bag. I'll slide it over there prior to first tee and tenth tee (if there was a delay at the turn) and take some easy swings with it.

I still am in the habit of snatching my 3 & 4 irons out of the bag and swinging them with right hand....then left....then right....then left then both for a few minutes.....very slowly.....before I even think about taking a real shot. Good for a fast warm up....probably doesn't do anything constructive for the golf swing other than loosen up back, shoulder, arms, wrists and neck a bit.

I've got to adopt another practice as the 3 and 4 irons are soon to be gone, gone, gone from the bag. I'm entering into a new era very soon. My clubs are about to change fairly drastically....gearing towards forgiveness and final results.

I saw a pro doing that, at the Buick I think it was (?), but I forget who was doing it. It looked like a good idea, I might get one myself. But of course the center of gravity changes radically - does that matter in your opinion? Perhaps not as a warming up or a slowing down/refocusing tool.

I also warm up with a swing weight and love it. But be careful. It can tend to help release your left side more than normal and then you get a little quick with tempo. Thus it might result in a hook, draw or push to the left. What I did was warm up with it, but either hit balls afterward or make sure my tempo on that first real swing was not too fast.

I have heard this with using swing weights. Can't really remember what the facts were, but I read somewhere that when you use them they can effect your swing in some way. Not to say they are bad to use, but be aware that they might hurt your swing.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

It only will fit on an iron or a wedge....so woods an hybrids aren't aided directly with this weight.....which is okay for me because I generally start off on the range with my sw or pw.

Most of the time I'll just pop it on there and simply swing the club in a rythmic pace...forward, backward....without pausing...just to limber up. There are times, though when it does become a training aid. Every so often I'll regress and begin lifting my iron/wedge too quickly when I'm taking the club away from the ball....puts me in bad positions early in the backswing. This little weight will reinforce a slower / wider takeaway that transfers the club in better positions for me. The good thing about the doughnut style weight is it can be used with all your sticks. I just saw this thing in a WalMart one day and picked it up for next to nothing. It's been a handy little tool.

I just watched a show the other day that tested this theory.. It actually says that you loose distance when you use warm-up weights. It uses muscles that you normally might not use when reguarly swinging a club. But if it works for you then use it. Plus the actually loss of distence was minimal.

I use the Power Hitter, it weighs 275 grams and helps develop club head speed. I've been using it for about a year, swinging it everyday for 25 times, and have incresed my club head speed from 105 to 117, and total distance from 260 to 295.

Driver: 909 D3

Anyone tried the SKLZ Power Sleeve:

Bro, Sunday, for the first time ever.... I used 2 -irons to swing and warm up b4 a drive over water. POW the drive launch was lower than what Im looking for, but ss of 115 it still cooks..I usually top or pull, this was clearly an aid...it pulled a little like at 11-12oclock but starting coming right just a tad enough to catch rough and a ridge then rolled into fway...260 easy,,,,IF ONLY I landed on the fairway! ...BUT i forgot to do it at the next tee ...next time its part of my warm up.
