Player of the year Phil Mickelsen.
Rookie of the year camilo Villegas.
Biggest dissapointment Ernie Els.
Comeback Player Karrie Webb
Best Tournament LPGA Kraft Nabisco (karrie Webb)

I know you were asking about the PGA, but I think the better tournaments so far have been on the LPGA. My first thought was Tom Lehman for comeback player and The Masters, but really the PGA has been less than compelling this year.

I think awards at this point are meaningless. Best tournament? There have only been two majors - not exactly the stiffest competition. And comeback? Why, Duval winning a tournament this year would certainly change people's votes, wouldn't it? Player of the Year? Tiger wins the last two majors and your votes would change, too (or anyone else wins 'em, too).

That's the spirit.

You know what I mean. So instead of what I think we'd see now, I'm going to vote for what I think we'll see at the end of the year.

Player of the Year - Tiger. It'll be close with Phil, but Tiger's re-appearance after losing his father will push him over the top. Except they do it by points now, huh? Hmmm. Rookie of the Year - Probably Camilo, but only because I'm not 100% certain who else is eligible. I wish pgatour.com offered lists of players like "2006 Rookies" and such. Biggest Disappointment - Almost nothing could top the 72nd hole, collectively, at the U.S. Open. Phil, Monty, Harrington, Furyk - everyone. Best Comeback - Duval should win this one, but Stricker and others lurk. Incidentally, whatever the opposite of "comeback" is, Daly would win that award. Best Tournament - The U.S. Open provided more moments that people will be talking about in ten years than any other, and I don't see that changing by the end of the year. Mark my words: there will be no Sergio leap this year at the PGA...

Rookie of the Year

Yeah, it's pretty hard to tell who the rookies are. Trevor Immelman is actually considered a PGA Tour rookie I believe, but I'm not buying it. He has played in numerous tourneys on the PGA Tour the past couple seasons.

Duval for comeback because he has started to turn his game around, even though he hasn't won his performance is really starting to show at the US Open he was 6 shots back and tied for 16th. He was something like 800th in the world a year or two ago. I would say that's a comeback.

There is more to come from D D and his placing in the US Open will boost his confidence.

POTY -- Mickelson probably (it would have been definitely before the 72nd hole of the USOpen). Honorable mention to Ogilvy.
ROTY -- JB Holmes or Brett Wetterich (is he a rookie?) ... at least until Villegas wins
Disappointment -- Daly
Best Comeback -- Ben Curtis. He missed a whole bunch of cuts there for awhile. Honorable mentions: Maggert, Duval, Stricker.
Best Tourney -- US Open (at least it wasn't decided until the last hole, unlike most tourney's this year). It's been kind of a boring year on the PGA as a whole.

Biggest Disappointment- Tiger Woods

Really? Because 8 events, two wins, six top 25s (and four top 10s), and $2.5M in earnings is a disappointment?

I dunno, sometimes I think people set the bar just a bit too high for some people... But it's your opinion, and you are entitled to it. Just caught me by surprise.

Maybe you're right that it was a bit harsh -- but Tiger doesn't play for top-10s and his failure to make a run at Phil on Sunday at the Masters and his meltdown at the US Open were truly disappointing.

Yes, the bar is high for Tiger, but if Phil had the same results this year, I would say the same thing.

Doesn't help that I would have won some nice dough in my US Open tourney if Tiger would have just made the cut -- not win, or even top-10 -- JUST MAKE THE DAMN CUT!!!!!!!!!

my exact point

You said Tiger made both cuts. Sarcastic tones of voice don't exist online, so people tend to take what you've written as you've written it, especially when it's sans smileys.

    • 3 rainouts in a row….that’s SAD Sorry, I’m in MI or I would take you up on a round.
    • Day 3:  I tried to hit a bucket at the range but an 80 year old man (he told me his age, showed me his knee replacement scars, told me all about his chronic low back pain, etc) couldn’t pass up the opportunity to mansplain to me every little thing I’m doing wrong.  Dude, it’s my third frickin day.  I know I need to twist my hips more, I know I need to keep my head/chest down and not pop up, I know I need to hit through the ball and follow through further, yada yada yada.  I know.  That’s exactly what I’m trying to work on.  How about you tell me or show me how to do those things instead of telling me to watch Iron Byron videos?  Rough day.
    • Day 132: 5/7/24 Full Speed Spectrum Training session 8/24. 7th training program overall.    Another slow session but 4 mph faster than my last session, which was my slowest ever. Going to the doctor on Friday to check on pulled neck muscle.
    • Day 26: Did full swing practice after work. First 15 balls were working on top of the backswing feel, and then tried to incorporate transition feel into the next 15 balls. A's, although this will be my last season of being a fan as they leave for Las Vegas (by way of Sacramento for a few seasons). Hard to see myself rooting for the Giants, but if that's the only MLB in the Bay Area, I guess I might get on board.
    • My two cents? Don't. As a beginner that's interested in learning about the golf swing, you'll find yourself consuming a lot of information, most of which isn't even relevant to your own swing. You need to learn you can't think your way to a good golf swing. Focus on the one thing that you're working on and doing that on every swing, come what may. And remember, mishits happen.
