again, different strokes for different folks.

FT-i is one of the high end drivers out there but some people don't like the square feel

test out all the drivers you can and find the one you hit with the best

I have an Taylormade 2007 Burner, and my dad has a Cleveland Hibore XLS. Both are OUTSTANDING drivers. I wouldn't get the XLS if you have sensitive hearing, though. It is Freakin' loud! Hurts my ears when I hit it square on lol.

Yep, sounds like a bell on some kind of wicked steroids lol. I see you have a 10.5 Burner. Is it regular or stiff flex. I had a 10.5 regular for a year then I sort of outgrew it as my swing developed, so I sold it and got a 9.5 stiff, makes a world of difference. One thing the xls has got over the Burner is the paint on the crown. It is much more durable and resistant to chips than the glossier paint on the Burner. But in the end, I love my Burner to death lol. I guess paint chips are inevitable. I mean, how can you not get a few tiny chips and such when you are hitting rock hard balls all the time? Lol. I'm proud to say I have yet to get the dreaded skymark and hope to keep it that way.

As of right now I'm a GEEK and have tried and tried to kick it out of the bag, but it has been the best of the bunch! Next up, my 2nd Tour Burner, only this one has a Diamana Blue Board in it. The TP I had had a VS Proto 65 in it. I had it long enough to know the head is long and should've reshafted it, but needed the cash.

Oh, I've been playing this GEEK DCT/ VS Proto 70S for going on 2 years now and have tried 30 or so drivers in the last 3 years.

I love my FTi and the face isn't that curved unlike my friends Ping which puts me off at address because it looks like you would have to middle it to hit it straight!

Why do people keep starting topics "Which is this the best, which is that the best?"

I can't stand it because it's all individual preference - what feels good to one may not feel comfortable to someone else. All the top brands (Titleist, Ping, Mizuno, Callaway, Nike, Taylor Made, etc.) ALL make quality golf equipment - it's that simple!!!!

With that said, I demo'd several drivers. I loved the look of the R7 Superquad, but when I hit it, I hated it. I ended up going with the Ping G10 at the time because it felt best to me. It was that simple. I hit it the best and that's what felt the best to me - what I hit the best and what felt best to me may be completely different to someone else.

It has a stiff shaft. I like the 10.5 for a little more control of my once in a while slice. As for the paint.... mine is holding up pretty good. My 16 year old son hit under a ball the other day and I thought for sure he chipped the paint but it was fine less a little scuff mark.

I had a TM R580 XD since the first week it came out! But a few weeks back I started shopping for a new driver, I must have hit 20 of them! After all was said and done I fell for the 09 TM Burner! I could really get the ball out there with my old 580, but nothing compares to how far I am smashing the Burner! But to each his own! Hit as many as you can and buy the one that feels most comfortable!

It definitely depends on the individual and their swing style. I'm really looking for a shop where I can try out some different drivers and get some help with assessing which is the best. I've been playing for about 6 months and 3 months ago I still couldn't get the ball off of the tee consistently. I was still using my Acuity 10.5 stock driver from the set I was gifted. I bought a used Callaway Big Bertha 460 (11 deg) and started hitting 230 straight consistently. However, now that I've become better at hitting the ball it is flying way too high with that 11 deg angle, it is still hitting 230 but only after scraping the stratosphere. Point being that it completely depends on the individual and their skill level. I've just discovered this game at the young age of 40 and have no doubt that I'll be looking for adjustments to my game 20 years from now!

Asking "what driver is the best?" is like asking "How long is a piece of string?"

I went to the range the week before last, even though I took it easy no significant pain occurred just a slight twinge when I swung my #4 hybrid. The most encouraging news was no soreness the next morning.
