So my local golf shop has a huge summer sale, where the majority of their "last years" stock is 30-50% off. On top of that I have a $5 off coupon for the sale.

What I'm wondering, is does anyone have, or can they provide a short list of good woods I might look at? I saw TM, Nike, Ping, Cleveland and a few more I can't remember. I'm just trying to find out what will be best for me. The sale clubs are unavailable to be hit before purchase, so that's why I'm asking the experts :)

Thanks guys

the cobra speed ld is a great wood. its very long off the deck and the tee. it has a very large head for a 3 wood and the face is also really big. very easy to hit and forgiving.

I really like the Mizuno 3 wood I have. The F50 and F60 are very nice. But I like the Nikes too.

If available I have to put out there that the TM Burner woods are great. I have the '07 3 wood and the club is a breeze to hit off the deck. I also have last year's burner 5 wood, which is one of my money clubs. Is there any other store that you can go to that has the same clubs that will at least let you swing them and hit some balls in-store?

A lot of guys I play with are really loving the '07 model Taylor Made Burners that are being sold new for ~$125 around here.

My father added that the wood back in April. His first round with it found him using it on the first hole of his home course. His drive was not great and he had 225 or so to the hole. He nutted the new TM Burner 3 wood and wound up making birdie on the hole.

After the round was over, he drove 45 mins to the golf shop to also buy the '07 driver to match.

Dad is 61 years old and playing some great golf. He stomped me by 11 strokes on our round last week. I can't get over how well he hits these two clubs. The shafts really aid his swingspeed and the head design get the ball launched very nicely. I can't say enough great about them.

Thanks guys. I'm going to Golf Galaxy first to check out their used selection, then to my golf course to see their "new" that are on sale. We'll see what I can find :)

ok, I picked up a used r7 st 3 wood at Golf Galaxy and was wondering about the weights. How are these adjusted? I realize you need a special wrench, but I was able to remove/turn the weights with a star bit I have in my screwdriver kit. One weight completely comes out, the other's center piece just turns.

Any help is appreciated as the only thing that would show up on google when I queryed it, was sites that sold the club, not any "how to's".

Thanks

The clubs come with a torque adjusted wrench. You remove the weights and install them where you desire and tighten until the wrench clicks...indicating you've torqued it properly.

I'd be careful using anything other than what they recomend. You can strip 'em out easily.

There are at least two different wrenches for TM sticks.....one is the black and grey model one is white and black. They have different torque settings.

Maybe you can find out more on their website and then ebay yourself the correct wrench.

    • Day 96 (18 Mar 24) - Continued work with the Divot Board with the GW and hard foam balls.  Focused on small target/small miss…setup to hit target about 30yds out - success if it hit within 6’ circle of target, fail if outside.  Had decent success averaging about 3 out of 4 (hitting in groups of four).

    • I'm relieved someone finally defined hiking. I was giddy when I saw these new TPI videos a day or so after they dropped. Very easy to understand the problem and solution the way they have presented it. Been working on fixing this for about a year and a half now. It's nice to be able to call it something so communication becomes easy.  I was working on more lateral and up too, but just having someone define it clearly in video form was so helpful for me to continue confidently with what I thought was wrong and how I had to fix it.  My conceptual error here was just trying to rotate like a tour pro but without including the necessary forward pressure/weight shift associated with enough lateral and upward motion of the pelvis.  This video is great too, as is Greg Rose.
    • Day 2.    couple mins of rolling putts end over end.    10 mins of Slow, mirror work, working on starting the downswing and impact wrist positions. Hit a couple balls into the net after.    Then finished with a couple chips to see if I could repeat what I worked on yesterday.
