AP1 vs AP2

Can someone share the difference between these 2 iron sets. Is it really just a players iron vs hackers iron?

I would love to hear the differences.

havent done too much reading on them but have hit them on the range at a local shop. I hit the AP2s first and loved the way they felt and the way the ball flew coming off of them. Next hit the AP1s and HATED them. The feel was crap compared to the AP2s and I did not hit the ball nearly as well. I'd so go to a local shop and try both to figure out your preference

The AP1's are more forgiving than the AP2's; they have a larger head and top line. They have jigged them a bit for 2010 and called them the AP1 & 2 710's; the AP1's in this model have a thinner top line than last year's. I have seen them but haven't hit them. I am considering having a look at these this season with perhaps a combo set.

I currently game a AP1 710 and I like them a lot. I have hit the AP2's but only indoors and seems like it lacks some feedback. Based on my last outing, I'd say the AP1's are really forgiving. Miss hits still comes out high and straight.

I sure wouldn't label the AP1s as hackers irons!!! Maybe user friendly mid-level irons.....

I hit both the 710 AP1 and AP2, I ended up buying the AP1s. The AP2 felt great as well but clearly not as forgiving as the AP1.

Even though the AP1s are cast iron, I really like the feel and didn't think the AP2s felt that much better.

I'm not skilled enough yet to appreciate the better workability of the AP2s, but when I hit a nice shot with the AP1s it goes exactly where I want it to, and at my level this gives me confidence. The not so perfect shots still go very straight but don't go as far.

I agree with Dub, the AP1s are mid-level irons that happen to be quite user friendly: they reward you when you hit great, they'll let you know very clearly when you mishit, but won't punish you too badly.
