Just gots me a Callaway Big Bertha Diablo driver....man it feels so sweet, and its LONG. I'm playing tomorrow morning to try this bad boy out. I was averaging 280 on the machine at Golf Galaxy. Straight too...

Also got 3 Cleveland CG14 wedges. 50º, 54º, and 58º. They have the Zip Grooves....and do they do just that! I never used to be able to check the ball up on chips...now it's so easy!

The one thing I love most about these wedges is that they seem to go the same distance to the hole, no matter where you hit them on the face. If it's hit in the center, they go farther in the air but check up more, and if it's off-center, then they don't really go as far in the air, but they roll more. I can't miss!

I posted this as a update on new clubs I got (no one cares...) and to tell anyone who might be interested in any of these about them. The Diablo is one of the straightest driver's I've ever hit. If you hit it on the center, it's butter soft. You don't really even feel the ball hit the club. Even on off-center hits its still so soft. There's no 'hard' hits with this driver. The wedges are pure gold when hit with a full shot. They spin like money, but also are easy to control the spin. Very very forgiving, predictable, and reliable clubs.

Oh, I almost forgot.

I wouldn't judge anyting by those GG sims, they suck. If you know where to hit the ball on the screen, it's quite easy to reach 380yrds+ on it. Plus it's quite easy to hit a ball straight 15 feet in to a screen then watching the simulator simulate what happens next, but in all actuality you could have sliced the !@#$ out of it.

But I hope all these work out for you, I was looking at those wedges earlier, they are pretty nice.

I second the GG simulators are garbage. Hit a low straight shot on the screen and it will go 300. I have abused the GG simulator and nothing there adds up to anything i have done and seen on the course. Congrats on your new clubs. Its a great feeling to have new sticks. I got some new sticks myself but its 10 degrees here and most courses are closed till Feb. BUMMED!!!

I'm going to give you a little advice. There's a force in the universe that makes things happen. And all you have to do is get in touch with it, stop thinking, let things happen, and be the ball.

Are all Golf Galaxy machines the same in every store? Because the one at ours they say is accurate to +/- 1 yd.

Maybe they're lying idk? It's the machine with that one hole with water like 60 yards in front of you, bunkers on the left, and the hole straight out.

280, isn't that down like 70 yards from a couple weeks ago?? Haha just kidding.

Anyway, did you get the draw version or regular? I hear they both draw the ball, so i guess there isn't a huge difference. As for the wedges, are the 14's the ones with the gel-back? My dad has the ones without the gel, i just can't remember if those are the 12 or 14.

I'm actually looking at getting a new 56* and was looking at the Vokey, CG12 and CG14. I have a 60* CG 12, who I got from a friend and I love it. I just can't decide which of the three to get. I hear so much good about all of them. It's mind-scrambling trying to make a decision

Woods- Texan Classic 3W 5W
Irons- Slingshot 4D 4-AW

Well, if you have a CG12 and love it, get another CG12. There's no sense in getting a different club when you love that one ;). Plus, you'll know how to hit it (pretty much how it spins, how it plays, the feel of the club is the same, just a different loft). I love the CG14's to death, but in your case I would get another CG12 just to keep it consistent.

I was thinking the same thing. I also got new irons from my future wife. She bought me the Nike slingshot 4d 4-AW. I see you have slingshots. How do you like them

Future wife....I take it your engaged? Congratulations :D.

I love them. The key to hitting them straighter and farther believe it or not, is to swing easier. The easier you swing the farther they go. I have the older OSS's though, so I can't really comment on the performance of the 4d's. I heard they were great though. The Slingshot, and Victory Red series are, in my opinion, the best series of irons that Nike has come out with. Slingshots are known for their forgiveness and playability. Have fun with them man!

Yea it was hard for me to pick my new 56. I went with the Victory Red by Nike. I love the high rev grooves. Best thing to do is hit them and whatever fits you best and your most comfortable with. I think buying new Golf equipment is the hardest sport to pick new equipment for. But its also the best feeling when you got shiny new sticks to play with.

Yeah, we're engaged. Couldn't resist a woman who goes golfing just as much as I do. I hope I love my slingshots as much as you do.

Haha well good luck. My gf is the same way actually. She's 16 though, im 15. She beats me most of the time too, but I get in a few wins here in there....which, are obviously celebrated with VIGOR. A large fist pump and a victory lap usually does the trick....

Actually didn't do too bad considering I just got the clubs yesterday haha. I shot a 75 on our par 72 course. Not too bad. Drives were all straight. Didn't hit it O.B all day :). The wedges were fantastic with a full swing. Hit it to 6 ft on more than one occasion. I'm very happy.

I had Vokey wedges previously and never thought I'd change until I tried the CG14's. I now have 50, 55 (it's a 54 but with a degree added) and 60 which gives me a great set of distances.

    • Went to a PING fitting day today. Going to be ordering a G430 Max 3w with a 75g x-stiff shaft at 5w length and a 3h. I forget what my fitter did with the shaft on that but she told me she’s going to email the club the specs of everything. The 3w combination we found pretty quickly. As for the hybrid, we tried a bunch of different head and shaft combinations for that distance with mixed results. Then she handed me the 3h and I took three swings with it and knew it was the one.
    • Yeah, this isn't sandbagging. It's outright cheating. He should be banned.
    • That’s quite a generalization. It’s clear that you don’t like water but there are plenty of us that drink it just fine. My daily intake is usually about 20oz of black coffee, 16oz of soda, 8oz of milk mixed into a protein shake, and anywhere between 30-60oz of water. It doesn’t even need to be cold and I kind of prefer it closer to room temperature than cold. I quite like the taste of tap water, with sole exception being the tap water at Magic Kingdom (it’s terrible). I can’t stand when people bring me tap water with a lemon wedge in it. I didn’t ask for lemon in my water.
    • This is the part I don’t get. He’s not even kind of sandbagging, he’s blatantly doing it and submitting scores that are verified to be incorrect. How he’s not banned from competition is beyond me.
    • He's right in what he's saying.I also have done this experiment with a golf shaft swinging with one arm at a time.one arm at a time is for me very fast but both hands together are very slow ..I got my 17 year old son to do this experiment and he swung very fast with either hand and he swung very fast with both hands together..My conclusion up to now is ; I'm not using my wrists properly but I not a 100 percent sure just yet..I will keep trying to fathom this out .I'm a 12 handicap and my son is 3.9 at Westlancs..
