Drawing everything but the driver

Went to the range today and was hitting everything off the ground pretty well, with a little straight or slightly pushed draw like I prefer. However, with my driver I was hitting weak super high pull fades... obviously I'm coming over the top but I just couldn't figure out how to fix it. I did manage to hit a few pull hooks... just got the clubface closed I guess. I think its a setup problem but I tried everything I could think of with the same result... anyone have any ideas? Its just strange to me that I would hit everything off the ground so well but not off a tee. I can live with a little fade, but I don't want to be coming over the top and I was hitting the ball so unbelievability high I was probably only getting 220 yards out of most of them.

I really take big divots and hit down on the ball so there is some pretty big difference between my driver and other swings but usually I'm pretty good with the driver. Most of them honestly were not fading too far (about 10 yards) which I can live with but so high up in the air that I was losing major distance. Any advice on keeping the ball down?

When you tee up your driver, odds are your swing is changing just a bit. When the ball is on the ground, you can swing down and hit it from the inside, but when it's teed up, you may be trying to hit up on it. Make sure you're hitting your driver with the exact same swing as you use for every other club. What I would do to correct any inconsistency between the driver and other clubs is to practice the driver from the ground, and the other clubs from the tee, and everything in between. I can hit a lob wedge teed 2" above the ground, and a driver from the fairway. That's all it takes, the same swing for every club.

Perhaps on the driver you're leaning on your right side more in an attempt to crank on it? I used to have the same problem and I found that I whenever I'd try to rear-back and let it fly I did just that...weight on the back instead of sliding towards the target. This may sound funny but try throttling down a bit. There's a chance (since we can't see your swing) that you're rushing the top of the swing which could also leave your hands trailing behind the ball, leaving the clubface open...just an idea.

I had a similar problem a few years ago. Could work a draw, which is my normal ball flight, with ease with every club but the driver. I would try to duck hook the driver just to hit a small fade. I had to to reshaft my driver. Had a stiff shaft which I had used my entire life but all of a sudden it was too weak. Stronger shaft fixed the problem immediately. You may have a different problem all together but worth a look if it continues.

The shaft torque is what causes this, not the flex. I have some FWs with really high torque shafts, and it's the same thing. My issue is the OP mentioned a pull-fade, not a straight or push fade, which would be indicative of excessive shaft torque. I try to stick with shafts under 3° of torque (which is equal to a good steel shaft).

Thanks for the replies. I like the idea of hitting an iron off a tee and making sure I hit that from the inside - I hit plenty off the deck with a little draw but didn't tee anything up but the driver. Also its very likely I was overswinging as I was getting pretty frustrated after I kept getting the same result. I doubt the shaft in my driver is the problem as my SS maxes out around 98-100 - I don't think I should be hitting X as I''m only midrange for an S. I have also noticed when on a launch monitor that when I really try to swing hard I lose about 5mph swing speed, which is something I should probably keep in mind when I get frustrated out on the range or course...
