This is the first time I've ever recorded my swing, and was just wondering what people thought. Today was wedge day, so I am hitting a PW. I can upload the video, too, but pictures just seemed easier/more useful.

Here's what I can see. Please bear in mind Im no pro.... I would think you hit the ball really high and lose a good bit of shots to the right. Here's why.

-Nice setup and take away in the first two pics. Looks like the club may be a little closed halfway back, but you would need to see it from behind and down the line to confirm.

-The right leg is locking out at the top and causing your hips to be a little more rotated than they need to be.

-Looks like your arms are leading the downswing and not your lower body. This could be caused by the over rotation of the hips in the back swing. It's causing you to be closed at impact and the club head is getting ahead of your hands. You always want your hands as far ahead of the ball and club head as you can at impact.

If you can soften your right knee in the back swing to limit your hip rotation and then get your hips/weight shifting forward to start the down swing it should help. Definitely get those hands in front of the club head at impact, I think you'd get more consistent and hit the ball farther with a better trajectory.

At impact you have a lot of casting and your left arm is folding very early. I think your weight shift could have something to do with it, but it would be much easier to see with a video.

a lot'a sway, and look at that picture at impact, your shaft is leaning toward your back shoulder.. never good, means your flipping the club with your hands when about to make impact.

Like I thought, you shift your hips way back on the backswing. You actually do a good job of shifting them back, but you will be much much more consistent if you eliminate the sway on the backswing.

Thanks for all the feedback. I went to the range yesterday and hit my 9/8i but forgot my camera to record the swing. I really tried to limit my hip movement and try to eliminate the sway that was mentioned, as well as focused on leading with my hands/body. I *thought* that I was shifting my weight better than I was, but as it turns out, it was more of the swaying that was causing this misconception.

-The right leg is locking out at the top and causing your hips to be a little more rotated than they need to be.

Can you explain this a little more? I know my left leg has a lot of movement (probably because of the swaying?) and I tried to correct that and have quieter feet through the backswing.

I would think you hit the ball really high and lose a good bit of shots to the right.

*Most* of the time the opposite is true, and I think a lot of that comes from me turning my hands before impact and closing down the clubface. Most of the shots I hit that day were 5-10 yard pulls to the left of my target line.

I'll post my 6 iron swing tomorrow. Again, thanks for the help!

Here's my driver swing. Sorry about the angles from the side. I'll get some more later. Wasn't aware the wind noise would be so bad, or the sun would be in the picture.

A little background. I started playing golf two years ago, but only played a few rounds at a 9-hole course, playing really old Tommy Armour woods. Last year, I really started playing seriously, and bought the Diablo featured here. Last year, the majority of my tee shots were either straight pushes or slices. No controlled fades or anything. This year, I am hitting the ball really well off the tee. The only time I slice is when I try to get a little too much. Smooth swings are either producing straight shots, controlled draws, or minor pulls.

Chuck a (imaginary) beach ball between your knees to keep them separated through the swing.

I noticed with the driver it goes across the line at the top pointing right of the target, I would suggest trying to shorten your swing a touch, as well with the wedge, you will be alot more consistant..jus my .02

I appreciate the feedback. The plan is to take a block of wood with me to the range next time I go and put it on the outside of my back foot to eliminate my swaying and to limit hip turn, as well as to try to get my weight more on my back foot without locking my knee. That should also limit my backswing and keep the club parallel to the target line at the top. I also plan on standing more upright at address, getting the butt of the grip pointing more towards my bellybutton. Right now, the club/ground angle is 40-41 degrees, and I want it closer to 45 degrees.

I need to lose some weight.....Can't get my shoulders properly turned because of the belly I guess.

new videos. the face on views are kind of wacky. ball flight is a straight fade with my misses being pull hooks off the toe.

alright, i tried to slow things down today and come into the ball a little less steep, but it doesn't look like i accomplished that. tempo looks to be a little more smooth, which i noticed help me stay balanced. little more of a pull FADE, rather than a straight FADE, but the ball was still falling to the right of the line.

Really nice motion right now. To stop the little pull cuts you're going to raise the handle through impact while retaining more flying wedge. Here are two quick snapshots that should help.
