Hey guys, has anyone had experience of making their irons more upright? I'm 6'3" and although I was fitted for my driver (standard length), I've never had my irons fitted. My pro advised that the toe should be slightly raised at address?

He mentioned that as mine is level with the ground, I may occasionally be catching the toe on the ground and causing the clubface to slightly open at impact.

Has anyone done this? Are there any downsides?

Thanks

Stu

No downsides. Go to a fitter (most golf shops can do this) and take some swings on a lie board to find out your exact angle. The fitter can adjust from there. Unless you have cast clubs and require a pretty major adjustment, this isn't a bit deal at all. Fairly quick and easy adjustment for the most part. I'd suggest hitting every club on the lie board and having them adjusted individually but many consider this overkill.

Definitely worth it. I got fitted in high school when I was probably 6'0" and I kept growing and now I'm 6'6" but I'm still playing the same clubs. Probably time for some new ones for me. Pretty much any place you go they can measure you up the proper way and then send the specs right to Callaway, Taylor Made, etc, or sometims they have their own shop where they can do everything themselves. Just matters where you go and what you're looking to spend.

I'm only 5'11, but getting custom fitted for irons was the best thing as far as buying equipment I've ever done...so the next time you go to buy irons, get custom fit, it doesn't cost anymore to get custom fit irons than standard
