Hi,

I'm currently in the market of getting new irons... I usually shoot around a 90-97 (damn driver and hybrids give me fits.) But the Callaway X-24's really caught my eye. I tried searching on here for some feedback but I couldn't find any...(maybe since they are relatively new). I also looked online but no official reviews yet.. (if you have any I could read I would love to take a look!)

I was wondering what the general consensus of this forum was about the new X-24's? Anybody play with them? I was really hoping to get a club I could "grow" into. I looked into the Diablo Edge Irons as well, but those seemed more for Game Improvement and didn't offer as much improvement in my future. I was hoping to get some clubs that I could play with for the next few years and really expand and grow my game into them. Since I essentially play "bogey" golf, I was wondering if these were the right irons for me...

I plan on testing them out and trying a few different clubs in the next few weeks and probably make a decision by late July.

Thanks and sorry for the long post!

Nick

Hi,

They are a good set of clubs. You will never "outgrow" these irons. You will only wish to change to something different. Again, you will never be able to outplay these irons.

Here's a review - http://www.golf.com/golf/equipment/a...987281,00.html

I haven't hit them. Initially I didn't like the look and could probably still do without the orange. But I do like the brushed nickel finish.

Thats what I was looking to hear... Thanks

Here's a review -

I saw that review yesterday, I was actually looking for more of a playing review similar to hackers paradise or something along those lines. I've always been attracted to the way they look but they are definitely growing on me.

Thanks Anymore thoughts?

OK..devils advocate here (as I do often). Since you seem to be having issues with woods and hybrids, you might consider looking for them instead. Why spend gobs of money on fancy irons when you will continue to have higher scores because of driver and fairway woods? Just thinking out loud here.

Good points, I just have some beginner irons, but my driver and hybrids I don't feel are that bad. I'm not terrible with the hybrids and driver I'm just very inconsistent. I was looking into getting some more irons as well though (I only have 6-PW). I think that my driver and hybrid play is honestly a lack of practice lol, not due to the poor quality of them (which they aren't but the irons are just beginner irons).

Hey man, I was in the same situation as you a few months ago. I couldnt decide on a set of irons. You and I seem to reach about the same score. I ended up picking up a set of the Diablo Edge irons. As much as i love these irons, i kinda wish i had spent that money on lessons first before i picked them up or even went to golfsmith to see what irons were right for me. The diablo's are really great. Havent had any trouble at all with them and the hybrids are amazing. Its near impossible to hit a poor shot with that club. On top of it all, they look pretty cool IMHO. good luck with whatever you go with

Hybrids: Diablo Edge hybrid 3-4

Irons: Diablo Edge irons 5-PW

I've always been partial to the look of the X series. Pretty sharp in my opinion...

I suspect the X-Hot whatevers are like the PING G series - they look way better in real life than in print ads - I mean really, they pretty much have to.

Yeah, I'd say they'd have to look better than in the ads as well lol

If it matters I use the X-22s and I love them. The best thing about them for me is they have a pretty heavy head, and a good deal of forgiveness.

x2. I love my 6 week old set of X-22s. That is an amazing set of irons. I've read on here that (paraphrased) there's not a nickel's worth of difference in the 22 and the 24. I don't know. I saw this morning an add for an open box of X-22, never been used, for 499.00.

I hit the X-22 and the X-24 before buying the Ping G15's. The X-22 was on my short list but I liked the the X-24's better. Don't know why but I hit them better (and I was hitting the 22 and 24 5 balls at a time going back and forth). I love the look of the X-24 as well, gorgeous clubs both in print and even more so in person. But I just hit the G15's better and they felt better to me. The G-15's just fit me better more or less. I don't think you could go wrong with any of the 3. Note, I also really liked the Mizuno MX-100's, the Ping G-10's and the Titlest AP1's.
