56* + 60* clubs?

Wondering how swing differs from a PW? I can't seem to trap the ball with a high lofted club and if I do hit down and pinch it to the ground the trajectory is to low! I can play it more forward but I feel like I picking it off the ground and hardly take a divot. Just don't know how to hit them properly and don't wanna pick or scoop em off the ground.

I love hitting high lofted wedges esp. the 60. I personally do not hit it like a PW. I line my feet left of the target and hit down on it taking HUGE divots. The ball goes sky high but thats what i want from those wedges. Another thing i find to be very important is esp. in your wedges, keep the grooves very clean or else the ball wont do what you want it to do.

I take my normal swing with my high lofted wedges but I concentrate on pushing my left hip hard towards the target...this helps me trap the ball as well as taking a nice divot and the wedge will create the spin on its own.

Just wondering how do u use the bounce of a wedge if u take a heavy divot?

I sport a 64* wedge and love it. To hit it consistently I've found that I have to play it way back in my stance. I line up left of target and hit down but through... NEVER give up on a high lofted wedge or your shot will be like very disappointing

Wedges are the only clubs I can seem to pinch the ball with. Anything less than an 8 iron I really have trouble taking a healthy divot.

I have a personal rule to never hit my 60 degree full out. Using a 48, 54, and 60 works well for me and the 54 can hit those shots that might require pressing with the 60. But to your question, I think there are two types of swing with both my 54 and 60. The "go down and drive it" takes a nice divot and is not too much different from a normal PW shot. The flight is lower, there is lots of spin and the ball brakes or even backs up. But the other shot is a purposeful "slide across it" shot. This one flies higher and bounces once or twice to the right, stopping quickly. This is the shot that really uses the bounce of the club and nips the shot with just a minor divot. I think of it as half way between a flop and a normal shot. The blade is kept square and it is better for shorter shots, and the stance is more open. Then there is a third shot, the flop shot, but that is completely different. You can flop several clubs, not just your sand and lob wedges. The value of the flop is debatable unless you practice it and are very confident hitting it, but I use it two or three times a round. I'll even flop a fairway wood if I need to get it up quickly and carry a long way.

To learn the "go down and drive it" shot, make sure you let the toe of the club turn up on the backswing, make sure you shift left hard on the downswing, and drive down and through it with hands well ahead. All the bounce does on these shots is make the divot a little shallower... just make sure you hit down and the divot is in front of the ball. If you bounce into the shot, you lose the spin and control. The ball will roll out too far with this mistake.
