Does anyone prefer them to sudden-death or 18-hole playoffs?

For some reason, every one I've watched has just bored me, even if it did come down to the last shot.

I like them because one golfer might hit some fluke shot in sudden death and win the tourney. Kinda like Hale Irwin at Pebble Beach hitting the rocks and bouncing back onto the golf course enabling him to birdie the final hole. It didnt happen in the playoff....... but you get my drift.

I like 3 or 4 hole playoffs. Really shows who the best player is, not just a lucky shot.

Like Sergio winning at the Players, due to a fluke gust of wind that put Goydo's shot in the water. Even if they want to keep the sudden death playoff at the Players, please don't do it on the 17th, it's a screwy hole anyway, should NOT decide the championship like that.

I like the multiple hole playoffs as well. Too many things can happen on one hole.

3-4 hole playoffs are my favourite, not sudden death. They all get a chance to make a mistake, and we get to see some extra golf. Like in football (soccer to you americans), where they stopped using Golden Goal, where the first goal won in the extra time. Now they play 15x2 no matter how many goals they score.

I hate sudden death. I can understand utilizing sudden death after the aggregate, but sudden death can leave a sour taste in your mouth. (Especially NFL games)

Even par through 9 is my best.  I don't even want to think about what was my worst.

I'll bet that today Bubba Watson is one who would be arguing in favor of sudden death.

I'm kind of torn both ways. I like the thrill that sudden death brings, but I think a several-hole playoff is a more fair test.

I don't think Bubba cares one way or the other based on his statements after the playoff. He said it best "I play to win" I love players with that kind of attitude.

I agree - love that attitude! My point was that since he would have won a sudden death he was probably wishing deep down that this tourney was like most of the rest, as he'd be a Major winner today if it was.

As I recall, the golden goal era was a brief interlude and the 15x2 method is a return to the old way of doing things.

My preference in golf: 18-hole playoffs for majors, sudden-death for regular tour events.

    • Ok, I'm trying to find a feel to hit a consistent ball flight (irons).  My current predicament.  1. I try to do the arms down stuff better, with the club feeling like it is way behind me more. It's just a cluster of results. Most of the time, I can't get any speed on the swing. If I get my arms down faster, I just throw them out.  2. I focus all my attention on turning better. Pushing off with my left leg and getting my right side through better. On the DTL view, this doesn't produce anywhere close where the hands and club should be. The result is usually ball first contact, lower ball flight, more centered contact.  At this point, I am going with option 2. Stop thinking about what the hands do. Just make a shorter backswing, keep it wide, turn through. Somehow, the club head finds the ball. My focus is so much on just making sure I turn, it's like, "Oh, that contact was better.... Oh, that bell flight looks playable." If not, I will just be practicing my entire summer.
    • Nope, they spent too much money. They are in over 28 million on the football roster and related NIL compensation at this point. Boosters associated with any Texas college football team has HUGE sway. The AD is between a rock and a hard place. They put a lot of money into Sorsby, at the chance of winning a NC this year. If you move on, you basically wasted a lot.  This is why Ohio State wants 3 QB's they feel can start. That is why the backups the past 5 years at some point transfer. Texas Tech has no backup near the quality of Sorsby. If they move on, they are screwed for 2026.
    • Maybe there's something I still don't understand about the situation. Wouldn't Texas Tech do itself a favor to move on from Sorsby at this point?
    • Day 281 6-10 Full swing, fast, getting low point ahead of "towel".  Working on flow during this seems to help.
