I am thinking about buying the new ft tour driver. I have only hit it in a simulator at Golf Galaxy and seem to hit a pretty 300 yard draw. But what do you guys think of it? How forgiving is it? What about the two shafts that come with it, voodoo vs xcon 6? The one I tried was an 8.5 stiff voodoo and felt amazing, I am thinking I'd get a 9.5 degree though.

How do you hit your FT-iQ in that simulator? Seriously, hit them side by side. According to the GG simulator, I can hit my FT Tour 360 w/a slight baby draw! Ironically enough, I play a baby fade off the tee and don't hit it nearly that far (especially not every time, 10-20 times in a row).

Forgiveness is subjective. I have no issues with forgiveness w/my FT Tour. My miss is either slightly high on the club face or just a touch toward the heel though. I seldom, if ever, miss way towards the heel or toe.

I haven't tried it with the Xcon6 but I have hit it with the VooDoo. For me the VooDoo had way to much spin and launched to the moon. I ended up going w/a Diamana WB in both of mine, one at 44.25", the other at 44.5", both at D3. Again, the shaft is going to depend on a ton of variables and what works for me likely won't work for you. The only way to know for sure is to hit them and see what you like. As for quality though, both the Xcon6 and VooDoo are quality shafts.

Good luck!

I hit it about 280 with a slight fade. Real life is more like a slight draw yardage varying from 270 to 310. I tend to hit it high on the club too, how does it react when there is a mishit? I like the Diamana WB alot, but I thought the point of the FT tour is designed to launch high? Wouldn't the whiteboard make the trajectory too low for the head?

The FT Tour is a low launch/low spin head. Teamed w/the Diamana WB, it's a low launching knuckle-baller. For many, this combo launches to low. I have my WB's tipped roughly 1/4" so they play on the extreme edge of S flex, or a soft XS. My SS is 116-118 and this flex has proven to offer a pretty good balance between distance and accuracy with ideal launch conditions for me. I've let quite a few other people hit it and most of them really low bullets that fly about 150 and roll another 40 or so yards. You need a pretty good SS and angle of attack to hit this driver with a WB. Don't get me wrong, it's not that difficult, it's just not something that an AVERAGE golfer can do (I hope that doesn't sound conceded). Truth of the matter is though, the FT Tour was not designed with Joe Average in mind.

When I miss high on the club face ball flight tends to be a bit higher (due to a higher initial launch) with less spin. If I miss high when trying to hit a draw or fade, ballflight is usually straighter than intended. Additionally, the ball doesn't travel as far. For example, I missed one pretty high tonight (only about 3/8" below the crown) and the ball traveled a good 20 yards shorter than usual and went dead straight (I was attempting to play my stock 5yd fade). As always, YMMV. For what it's worth, I love this head. Teamed with the right shaft, I believe that it's one of the best drivers that you can buy right now.

I love my FT Tour. I switched from the FT-9 which I also hit quite well. You ask about forgiveness, and this is where I think the FT Tour has the leg up. I feel as though I am not losing as much distance if I hit the Tour off center. I was not a fan of the voodoo I had at first so switched out to the VSProto. For some reason though the voodoo works quite nice in my 3wood?

Does it go straight or hooks or slice on those off center hits? I understand tow is hook heel is a pull slice but is it more dramatic than the Ft-9?

My swing speed is about 105-110 and am pretty confused with my launch and how it should be. I used to have a Sumo 5000 before my Ft-iQ tour and I thought I launched that too high. Now that I have my Ft-iQ with the WB I am hearing that higher trajectory is better. http://findarticles.com/p/articles/m.../ai_109467575/ What's your word on this? If I decide to get the FT- tour (which is looking likely) should I stick with the Matrix Xcon 6 or switch it out for a lower launch shaft? Thanks for all of the good info btw!

higher trajectory isn't necessarily BETTER. a higher trajectory with good carry can be good but if you have a ton of back spin (which id oubt you have with WB) then your losing a bit of distance off your drive.

however, ball trajectory is more or less personal choice. Look at guys like Dustin Johnson, he launches it a mile in the sky, thus he's able to get quite a bit of distance but not a lot of roll. Take Mickelson for example who doesn't launch it up as high but his drives get a ton of roll.

So really, its a choice you have to make.

As for the FT Tour, I love the smaller head. Lets you have a bit more control over your shots. My mishits aren't necessarily slices or hooks but I've had problems pushing my drives a bit but that could be because of the shaft being X. I swing roughly 115-118 and I'm still getting adjusted to a X shaft but for the most part, I've adjusted fairly quickly and easily.

I will give you one last point...if you like the FT Tour and if you are possibly looking to save a couple bucks, the Cleveland DST Tour plays fairly similar to the FT Tour and its roughly $200 cheaper.

FWIW, I would only trust launch, spin and speed on the simulators. Every time I hit on a simulator, it tells me I hit nothing but a straight push, yet on the course, I hit a straight fade or a pull fade.

yeah i woldn't pay attention to that part. the guy at GG told me that the shape of your shots are inaccuracte because it can vary heavily depending where you're standing relative to where the machien thing is, etc.
