I want to give 'roll groove' technology a proper try out and also try out a blade putter. I have narrowed it down to a Yes! Callie or a Rife Aussie. (I have demo'ed the method and TM putters but ruled them out). I like the look and feel of both, neither stands out from the other. Just want to hear opinions from people who have tried both?

Everybody is going to be different. I wouldn't base any purchase off of us. That being said, I like the rife putters. I am going to pick up a Barbados CS this offseason.

Definitely a very personal decision, one that can only be made by real-world comparison. I remember being very excited to try out a Rife at the local GS when I saw them advertised. It was strange how it just didn't feel good in the hands, whereas the Yes! felt like I had been born holding it.

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

they style of putter is up to you
as far as how the groove technology works...I have owned both and can help

heres my review:

YES!: (owned the Robin)
-the groove technology is only in the sweet spot of the putter
-for me, I hit a lot of putts of the toe on sneaky downhillers, so it doesnt come off too hot
-this is impossible w the YES
-also if you mis hit it w the YES, just a little and you catch only a portion of the putt, it will completely go off line
-these putters feel dead to me

RIFE: (owned the Abaco)
-LOVED the look and feel of this putter, I really did
-the roll groove tech is over the whole face, which eliminates the above points about the YES
-TO ME, the roll groove tech puts too much spin on the ball
-I have seriously NEVER had so many putts lip and spin out of the hole
-I find it also very hard to control distance with, as you cant guess just how much spin is going on the ball

If i HAD to choose which one i liked better tho...it would be the Rife

I was fitted for the style of the Rife (abaco) and it suited my stroke perfectly
Hense why I play a Odyssey #9 now (which i was also fit for, by a different pro...so im sticking with this style of putter from now on)
I went w the White Ice insert, as its a good mix of soft anf firm feel...I rarely leave putts short anymore

i never would have thought i would ever be playing ANY of the gear in my bag today, but it all works

good luck w your search....and dont count out those Odyssey putters ;)

I think yes has a better variety, but since you currently have a red x rifle mallets are really good.

If you like the Callie, check out the Tracy/Tracy II. I went in to the store convinced the Callie was the putter for me, and left with the Tracy II...

Try a Rife Antigua if you like the Aussie. Best putter I ever used. Kevin Colbert at putterplating can shine it up nice if you don't like the satin silver finish. Amazing putter.
