Do you switch to a different ball when it gets colder? I have heard that people switch to lower compression balls in the winter. Does it make a difference in performance or just feel? What ball do you like to play when its cold outside? Thanks.

Definitely will get you some extra distance when the temps drop. The Titleist Gran Z is one of my favorite winter balls along with the Precept Laddie.

Waiting out the 2 feet of snow that just dropped on the course....

Never thought about this before, but I did play in about 50 degree weather yesterday, played a softer than normal ball, and it worked really really good.

I do. Love the TM Reds in the summer, but just don't feel like I can compress them when it gets colder. Last fall/winter I went to the TF D2 Feel and really liked it. There is very little need for alot of spin in my area (WA.) as things really soften up quite a bit. So far this fall, I have been using some Srixon Soft Feels that I found during the summer and kept for this time of year. Played Sunday in wet and cold (42 degrees) and I had no problem sticking everything from a 7-pw well under a foot from its mark. One of the guys I was playing with was using a Penta and it did the same thing.

Lots of good inexpensive 2 piece balls out there that still have a soft feel when it gets cold. Personally, I like the D2 Feel, Soft Feel, TM Burner, and the Nike PD Soft among a bunch of others.

Forgot to add that price is also a factor for me. This time of year it is pretty easy to lose balls that are in or just off the fairways. Soggy places lead to pluged balls especially off the tee. Both guys I played with on Sun lost balls that plugged in the rough less than 10 yds off the fairway. I almost lost one amongst quite a bit of leaves just off the green.

I picked up two 15 packs of the D2 Feels last fall for $17 and found enough quality 2 piece balls during the season to keep me going until it warms up enough to switch to the Gamer V2 or TM Burner TP and then on to the Reds.

Played yesterday, it was about 1ºc so about 35ºf fairways were frozen, greens had snow on them you had to land an approach about 25y short and bounce it on, one of my playing partners bounced one in the middle of a frozen pond and landed on the green! It made no difference what ball you played, ended up with a yellow Donay, which don't exist in the US I don't think, but if they did they would be about $4 a dozen!
