Cobra S3 Irons

Has anybody played the Cobra S3 irons or hit a demo? Would appreciate some feedback or comments.

I am considering buying a new set of irons and looking at the Cobra S3 irons.

I carry an 18 handicap.

only demoed them but they were solid hitters seemed to be reliable. Depends what your looking for in your iron set but these are great with consistency and forgiveness. They weren't outstanding as far as distance gains go though but launch was good. Great looking set of course.

Thanks for you input since it helps me trying to decide on which irons to buy.

no problem good luck with your hunt I completely understand how frustrating it can be to buy a new set of irons

I got a set...I had a set of King Cobra 2 oversized from back in the day and a set of Nike Split back VR also....I loved the 12 year old King Cobras, and I guess the Nike's were too advanced for my skil level....

Bottom line is they are long and forgiving......I also think the look good but the black is starting to wear off on them pretty fast.

They are easy to hit and are probally like most GI irons......

FWIW...I cant' tell much different from my old King Cobra's...keep in mind I am about 25 or so HC.  I can hold the green with all the clubs as I have a high ball flight....and I did not gain any distance with them, i hit them just as far.

THe club head is bigger than my old KC2 were, but as far as feel, they both feel the same when i hit them flush.......

I would hit a couple of sets and see what you like..I am left handed and don't have that luxury.

I've had my S3s for about 2 months now and love 'em. Very consistent sticks. Ball flight mid-high with the NV3 graphite regs. Usually go dead straight.  Typical ball flight has been a slight draw. Picked up 1 club in distance from my Mizzy MX25s. I really like the fact that the S3s give you all the game improvement technology avaialble without the extreme offset. If there was a category for a player's game improvement iron these would head the list. I also demo'd the burners, razrs, and a few others and these had the best feel off the clubface. Another thing I really like is you get feedback when you mishit a ball but the game improvement features still do their work for you. I'm 60, s/s with driver down to high 80s, 7 index.

Vinnie, thanks very much for your detailed comments on the Cobra S3 irons. I am still leaning to getting a set of the S3 irons and will make a decision real soon.

I just purchased a set of Cobra S3 irons with reg flex steel shafts.

These were tested against Ping G15, Taylormade r9 and r9TP.

My current set which I still use is the r7 CGB, which I love.

It came down to the decision between the r9 and the S3, both almost equal except to small differences.

1. the grip on the S3 is much better (yes a easy fix on the r9)

2. an off-hit never felt bad on the S3

on the computer I was hitting distances of 190 ave with 6 iron on the r9

witht a 6 iron on the S3 it was 184 yds.

prices: retail for r9 was $598

retail for S3 was $648

the price differences of $50 made it a tough decision between the two

those barely noticeable by when compared the S3 felt like a longer club in hand.
