Burner 2.0 Sand Wedge

Thread Starter

I'm relatively new to the game and playing with a set of burner 2.0's 4-AW. I'm looking to grab a sand wedge but am unsure of what to grab.

I can either grab a burner SW and it will match the set or spend some time at the pro shop picking something else out. Would I be getting a substantially better wedge by not grabbing the burner?

Welcome at The Sand Trap Forum !

It really depends on how you want to use the SW, if it is for full swings .... it might be a good thought to go for the Burner 2.0 is the feel will be the same as the rest of your clubs.

If it is for sand play mostly .... I would suggest to get a specialized (54* to 58*) SW that matches the sand of your local course, take one with less bounce (8-10) if the sand is firm or hard, take one with a higher bounce (12-14) if the sand is loose or fluffy. Bob Vokey also has a few with right in the middle bounces (11*).

Taylor made has nice wedges in their TP series, but many players end up with the Bob Vokey or Cleveland wedges.

I agree with Gerald. I just got the Burner 2.0 irons. I chose to go with the Vokey 56.11

I can lay it open to increase loft and bounce, or close it some to go the other way. I'm real happy with the choice as the 56.11 gives me many options of ways to use it.

I play with the Taylormade 2.0's and have the sang wedge. Last year I played with a Vokey 54* and 60* wedge but with my new set I decided to give the 2.0 SW a try. I can say it is one of the best wedges I have ever used for sand play or general shots. Our course is currently switching their old sand which is almost like dirt to the better traditional white sand so some holes you can play out of either style and I can hit it great out of any type of sand. I was hesitant to use it because I liked my Vokey wedge so much but I'm not looking back at this point!!

I used to buy specialized SWs and LWs all the time, but when a switched to the Burner 2.0 irons, I got the matching SW and LW.. The reason being is for me there would have been just too much of a difference in look and feel and you still need a SW for full shots 90-100 yds and a lob wedge 70-80 yds.

Went to Vegas in August 2011 and my clubs never arrived.  However, one of the course I played had burner 2.0 sets of everything, and I loved it all.  Ended up buying the set once home.  Just special ordered the lob and sand wedge to go along with my AW-4 iron.  On tight fairway lies, I have always struggle in that area with conventional wedges, so I'm hoping they are a easy and perform as well as the other do.    Here's the link to my pics of the clubs, and a golf course in Mesquite, Nevada called wolf creek.  Cheers Rod     http://www.flickr.com/photos/runnerdog/
