Does this PING fitting make sense?

I just got fitted for a set of PING G10 irons. I'm 6'3" and wrist-to floor is 39". According to the PING color chart , I'd be maroon dot, +1/2" shaft length, but the fitter suggested +1 1/2" shaft, silver dot. That seems to be very different from the color chart.

I'm not sure what to go with now. I'm inclined to trust the fitter's suggestion over the chart since he had me hit a bunch of balls off a contact board and actually saw my swing. Has anyone had a similar experience? What do you guys think in general? Do the fitter's suggestions make sense or are they too far outside the color chart?

Without seeing your swing and knowing more I am inclined to lean more towards the static fitting.

I had a dynamic fitting done on Thursday and it was a disaster. I never, ever hit well indoors with mats and simulators not to mention the added pressure of having lots of eyeballs all over your swing flaws. Plus my swing was just way off for some unknown reason.

I was fit for orange dot, 3/4" short and regular flex steel iron shafts with standard grips. On the web fit I was red dot, 1/4" short and regular/soft regular graphite shafts with undersized grips. Having bought lots of used clubs over the years, I've had the chance to play around with lots of head/shaft/grip combinations and I've come to the conclusion that the static fitting confirms my own observations from various equipment. Something else to keep in mind is that I am constantly tweaking my swing so the lie angles at address can change from week to week.

Bottom line is I just went with standard off the rack black. If I had to pay retail I would have placed a custom order with the web fit specs but it's awfully hard to say no to g15's a $50 per club. I can always send them to Ping for adjustments. They charge $18 per set plus shipping.

Thanks, guys. I think I'm going to go with the fitter's suggestions for now. Paying Ping $18 to get the whole set adjusted is a bargain, so I can always do that if it absolutely doesn't work.

I'm 6' 3" with a 39" also. I was fitted last friday and like you was maroon on the chart, but my fitter thought that was too much. After hitting several different clubs off the board with tape I ended up with green dot + 1/2". You have to remember that for every 1/2" of lenght add it adds 1 degree upright lie. Green dots are 2.25 and the added length makes them a 3.25 upright for standard length. So if your adding 1 1/2" in length you would need yellow dot to acheive the +4.5  degree upright.
