Lately I have been moving in the wrong direction in my game.  I played today and shot a pathetic 90 to me.  I had 6 doubles all due to not hitting the green in regulation.  I am averaging 29.2% in the greens in regulation category.  This is a drastic drop for me as I have been playing very well for me lately and have moved my handicap  from over 18 to as low as 13.6 this summer.  My short game has improved so I am still able to get up and in worse case two putt.  U have pretty much eliminated three putting.  The problem is from about 120 and in.  I am usually left or dead on the pin and short.  I dont know if its a judgement error or something in my swing.  Also this is shots coming off the ground.  When I put a ball on a tee I am certain to pull it about 20 yards right.

Does anyone have any advice as to how to break out of this or am I completely in my head?  Please help any and all advice needed and appreciated.  I want to be a 10 handicap by end of summer and this is suddenly a huge boulder in my way!!

Thanks in advance.

Also there is a swing post of my swing already.  I have changed my swing plane already and have also shortened my backwswing.

When its breezy swing easy!!!!!

If you're consistently missing greens from 120 in or if you're just not as consistent as you'd like to be then I feel like a rangefinder would be very valuable to you. Get out sometime and hit shots from a certain distance, say 90 yards for example, and jot down what club you swing and exactly how you swing it to get it close, whether it be choked up or 3/4 or whatever the case may be. If you do this is in 10-20 yard increments down to 15-20 yards from the green then you're sure to start hitting more greens.. Just my 2 cents..

If you miss the green in reg and take one more shot plus two putts thats only a bogey?

Also have you checked your wedges arent too upright?

I have mine bent flatter which helps.

Tempo, Tempo, Tempo with the wedges.

I cant reach most greens in reg but I still get quite a few birdies

If you are on a par 4 and miss the green in 2.. Get on in 3 and 2 putt that's a 5 so yes it's only a bogey. It sounds a lot worse than it really is. Hahaha. Sounds like a lot more strokes when reading it than it actually is.

  • 2 weeks later...

3/4 swings are they way to go from anything inside 120 figure out what clubs go how far and just swing to 3 quarters to take alot of variables out of the equation mate.

What are you looking at when you tee off and when you are taking your approach shots into the green? So many golfers, including myself just look down the fairway or towards the green. Just like playing catch, focus in hard on a small target. If you are not doing this it is guaranteed to work... Best of luck

    • Lemme guess….’ We don’t want any confrontation so nobody says anything.’ Sheesh…..Call him out and fix the problem.
    • Went to a PING fitting day today. Going to be ordering a G430 Max 3w with a 75g x-stiff shaft at 5w length and a 3h. I forget what my fitter did with the shaft on that but she told me she’s going to email the club the specs of everything. The 3w combination we found pretty quickly. As for the hybrid, we tried a bunch of different head and shaft combinations for that distance with mixed results. Then she handed me the 3h and I took three swings with it and knew it was the one.
    • Yeah, this isn't sandbagging. It's outright cheating. He should be banned.
    • That’s quite a generalization. It’s clear that you don’t like water but there are plenty of us that drink it just fine. My daily intake is usually about 20oz of black coffee, 16oz of soda, 8oz of milk mixed into a protein shake, and anywhere between 30-60oz of water. It doesn’t even need to be cold and I kind of prefer it closer to room temperature than cold. I quite like the taste of tap water, with sole exception being the tap water at Magic Kingdom (it’s terrible). I can’t stand when people bring me tap water with a lemon wedge in it. I didn’t ask for lemon in my water.
    • This is the part I don’t get. He’s not even kind of sandbagging, he’s blatantly doing it and submitting scores that are verified to be incorrect. How he’s not banned from competition is beyond me.
