I am looking at some irons to purchase and would like to get some Project X 5.5 in them.  Maybe the 6.0.  Anyway, I can buy the irons with the KBS Stiff shaft in them, but have never hit the KBS and don't know anyone who has them in their irons.

Can someone give me some feedback on the KBS vs the Project X?  Stiffer, heavier?

Thanks for any help on this.

I use the KBS tours and really like them.  From what I've heard and my experienced has backed this up, the Project X and KBS tour perform similar.  But they feel different, much softer feel because of the way the tip section is designed.  So against a DG s-300 the KBS tour will launch higher, and have less spin.  Against a DG s-300, Project X's have less spin, maybe higher launch.  So if you like a softer feel, don't mind hitting it higher with less spin, KBS is the way to go.  Want to note that the softer feel doesn't translate into greater shot dispersion.

Besides stiffness, also consider the shaft weight and its effect on clubhead speed.

Shaft Weight (grams)
KBS Tour R * - Taper 110

KBS Tour R+  -Taper

KBS Tour S * - Taper

115

120

KBS Tour 90 R - Taper 95
KBS Tour 90 S - Taper 102
PX 5.5 115
PX 6.0 120
DG S300 130
DG S300 SL 106

TT GS85 R

85
TT GS85 S 85

* Parallel shafts weigh R = 120, S = 130

I test hit some Nike irons in the GS85 shafts, and I had trouble with overswinging and trying to kill the ball - just not enough weight. (My PX 5.0 = 115 grams)

Suggest you go to the manufacturer's web sites - more complete info on product specs than in past.

Edit = correct grammar
