wedge grinding question.

Most golf stores or pro shops don't grind wedges.  There are specialty places like Cool Clubs that do it.

I wasn't aware that more bounce would create a higher ball flight.

Normally for me I use my 11 bounce wedge for softer conditions, deeper sand or thicker rough and my 8 bounce wedges for greenside chips/pitches etc. I am thinking about having my 58.8 ground down to a 58.6 or so for next season however as I have a habit of blading the ball with it. For the winter though I think 8 will be fine.

If you search for local "golf club makers" rather than big brand stores you'll find someone locally who can do the job. Whether they do the job well though is another matter without personal recommendations.

Another thing to try if you'd rather not pay out at all is to experiment with opening the clubface and/or the shaft angle to see if there's a compromise to be had with your current bounce on tighter lies.

Did you bend the SW loft? Jaws CC wedges come in 54* and 56*.

For the 50*, you might try a DG Spinner shaft. It would give you a lower launch.

 

Your Callaway Jaws CC wedges are going to have a little higher flight than non-conforming wedges probably, because of the groove design.   Keep in mind that your buddy's 52 might be non-conforming or might even be stronger lofted, or have a different shaft even..  I don't know that more bounce necessarily equates to a higher ball flight, not sure about that one but in general the conforming groove wedges do fly a little higher, at least for short shots anyway.  You can always have some bounce taken off your 50 and see how it works.
