Addressing the ball/stance...

Is there a "correct" or generally encouraged way to address the ball in terms of where you play it in your stance?

I always play the ball forward, unless I'm hitting a pitch or something... Hitting driver, I play it forward (which is a no-brainer), but down through my irons and even hitting full wedge shots, I play the ball forward.

Aside from this being the most comfortable for me, are there any disadvantages/downsides to playing the ball up in your stance? Is it "incorrect" in any way?

Sean O'Hair plays it forward and varies how wide his stance is, Jack does the same. I progressively move the ball back based on the club (9 iron further back than my 6 iron). I'd say if it works for you stick with it.

Yeah it feels right for me, never intended on changing it, I just didn't know if setting up a little differently would open up new options in terms of shot-making, increased spin, etc.

Here is an image of Ben Hogan's ball position chart. He didn't change the ball position just where his feet where at address depending on the club he was using.

The Ben Hogan chart is really interesting... I tend to do what he does as I get down into my shorter irons and wedges, opening my stance more and more. Idk what it is... I've had people mention it saying I should correct it but I don't feel it's a problem if I'm putting the ball around where I want it to go.
