Real Name: Nathan

I've been Playing Golf for: Casually(once a month) for 22 years, Seriously for 2

My current handicap index or average score is: 4.5

My typical ball flight is: Draw

The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: Pull

OK it is time I post a video of my swing.  I believe this is the first time I have swung at a ball since last November and it shows.  There is one video but it has DTL regular/slow and FO regular/slow speeds.  I am little embarrassed about these swings, but it is a good reference for what I need to start working on this season.  I worked with James at evolvr for a couple months at the end of last season.  It is clear I need to continue that as soon as possible.  Some of my issues are right elbow pulling inside(back swing), wrists collapsing at the top, I am having a hard time getting the right elbow forward to the target quickly enough in the downswing, and a rising left should(upswing) among others.  Yikes a lot to work on but happy to post my swing for you guys.  What do you think i should work on?

Videos:

P.S It was a little cold(36) and I was a little stiff.

Thanks on the comment about the steady head.  I do think I have a flipping issue too, but I am not sure what exactly it is.  Maybe someone can help us out.  I am collapsing at the top more than I was when I was working with James too, that is probably leading to the flip. My right hand also weakened again, more than he would like I know.

Yikes, just noticed my shoudler turn is super flat as well.  So much to work on.  I really struggle with the shoulder turn and the right elbow.  Those are really tough for me to get correct.

I am actually not doing it too badly in this swing but I am doing it a bit.  What I mean is that I loose the right angle from the right forearm to the shaft of the club.

edit. Causes Casting

Working on getting a steeper shoulder turn, and getting into a more stable position at the top.  Figured I would start here and work on this until the next time I can get to a range since I am not sure what else I should be doing.   Not sure when I can next get to a range, considering there are only three I know of that open and they are not close.  I have to get there at off hours in order to get FO videos as well.  Hopefully the outdoor one next to my work will open up in the next few weeks and I can start going every week again.  Dang I hate Wisconsin, why did I have to move here!

I removed the video of me doing the drills, because I was doing them wrong.  Don't want to watch myself doing a drill wrong.  Now the video just looks like a typical Wisconsin day!  For now I am just trying to get into a good posture in order to make a proper should turn with a good pitch.  I am working on this until I can get some range time in.

There is a heated one half an hour away from where I work, and a indoor one half an hour or so in the other direction.  There is also one about an hour away.  I should be able to go to the heated one next week, but I can often only get DTL shots because they are so busy since there are so few of them.  I run a family business(auto body shop) as well, so the time gets kind of crazy.  Pretty much work from 6:30am to 6pm Mon-Fri.  In the summer(Apr-Sept) I have a membership at a public course that lets me tee off at 5:30am and then I can be into work at about 7am.  It is pretty hectic trying to improve with this work schedule and with young kids.  Luckily I am an early bird!

Posture difference.  On the left I have reverted back to my bad posture from before starting evolvr.  On the right, trying the make the correction.  Had a little help in getting it corrected.  I will take it to the range next week and see if I can get into it and correct my back swing in a real swing.

What do you mean by ratio?

Nice work!

To review

- Tailbone under you a bit more, "stick in the gut" feel

- First pad of the trigger finger on the aft side of the shaft

- More pressure point #1 on backswing to load the arms.

Thanks again for the tips Mike!  Hopefully now after my 3 month golf hibernation I will have not fallen too far behind by the time I start up again.  I look forward to starting to work with you guys in a few weeks.

The golf swing has essentially two parts. The shoulder turn mixed with the wrist hinge. The shoulder turn is the around and the wrist hinge is the up in the swing. If you are off plane ie across the line, laid off or whatever, its as simple as you have too much of either "up" or wrist hinge, or you have too much around with shoulder turn. I would try and feel as if you are picking the club straight up on the backswing. It sounds crazy and you wont be anywhere near it but it will even out your ratio.

I like big putts and I cannot lie.

Ok that makes sense. I have actually been working in that as well. Taking the club more back and up rather than in.

    • Day 76 - Pretty sore today, so I opted for putting over my Stack session. Primary focus was on starting line, as my putting has been pretty poor this year.
    • Been a bit of delay in updates but I needed to come back east as my mom's health has taken a serious turn for the worse. In a 3 day span we learned she had a tumor to she has stage 4 cancer and stopped eating and drinking for the most part. She has had a rough 3 months but certainly didn't think we'd be at the point of setting up hospice for her. My mom was never into any sports really other than following the Red Sox because my dad was a big fan. She always cared about what we were involved in including asking about how golf went.  I have kept up with my 5 minutes of daily practice and will go to the gym here in NH tomorrow morning. Despite the somber nature of this trip my family has commented more than a few times about my weight loss so it's important to me to keep it up. I know my mom always wanted us happy in whatever we did so I'll continue with my fitness journey keeping that in mind.
    • Day 109- Putting drills on a putting green for 20 minutes.
    • Day 252: did a stack session. Did some slow rehearsal swings during breaks.
    • Day 82: 3/18/24 Tried a Stack session but could not certify my warmup. Finished with indoor chips and putting.
