"**** I have added 3 or 4 spaces between each of my paragraphs, but it still shows as a giant paragraph... any hints on how to properly space is appreciated. I would be happy to repost in a reader friendly format.... Thanks!!! Hi everyone, I am a beginner that's been practicing for about 5 to 6 weeks now. I bought a Strata 13 piece set to start out, added a few wedges, and have been practicing 2 to 4 times a week at the range (including 1 hour a week with an instructor). When I go to the range, primary emphasis is on my irons. As a result, I may use my 6 or 7 iron up to a hundred times in a day (I focus on those two more than my other clubs). After a range session this week, I looked at the head of my 7 iron. At the hosel, where the club head meets the shaft, there is a very noticeable bend or curve (probably about 10 or 15 degrees). I looked at my 6 iron, and it was noticeable too (just not as bad as my 7). I looked at my 8, and you could tell it was starting to bend, and then my 9 iron looked fine as far as I can tell (but I also use it less than any of my other irons). I do swing fast and hard, and given I am a beginner, I occassionally take too much of a divot. I feel like my clubs are relatively new (I bought them new 6 weeks ago), I am surprised to see this happening. Or would this be expected of a cheap starter set, especially one that gets used to hit hundreds of balls each weak, with a fast swinging beginner? Also - what do you think I should with my 7 iron? Continue to play with or without it, get it reshafted, pick up a cheap 7 iron somewhere else (like a $5 used demo club), or replace the set? I don't want to replace the set now, as I am still new and I feel like I need to get more usage from them to make it worth it. Although it looks like all my irons will end up bent, and I dont want to learn bad habits with messed up irons (I am committing enough time and money that I would hate to try to save on irons, but hurting my game in the long run). Thanks for the feedback.

try going to a thrift or veterans store. Often you may find decent name brand sets dirt cheap. I have seen individual, top of the line clubs that cost upwards of $200 new for $5.  Entire sets for $25. Craig's list is another source.  Clean them up and they are fine. As for your paragraph spacing, I do not know what to tell you unless your "enter" key is broken or something. Try using the one on your number key pad and see what happens.

Oh, I see you are using touch screen. You are on your own in that case. I am clueless.

No problem.

As far as the actual problem used sets are easy to come by.  Get a used iron set for ~$150 and your problem is solved.

As far as preventing the problem: be careful how you place your bag in your trunk/truck bed.  If the bag is sitting the wrong way some clubs may bend under the pressure.  I know this first hand because my 5 iron (Dynamic gold stiff shaft) ended up being bowed slightly in the middle because of the way I had them sitting in the truck (same spot in the bag, same spot in the truck) over several months.  The club was supporting the weight of the bag itself and over time got bent right in the middle

Solution, rub the shaft over your thigh (wearing jeans) really fast until it gets warm to touch.  Bend it back straight.  Problem fixed!!

Thanks all. I am careful with my clubs, so I am getting the impression that is being caused during usage of clubs. The bend or curve is right at the point where the shaft meets the head, and its worse on clubs I use ore often. Will try the towel method as well as look for a $5 replacement. Thanks again.

Thanks james. I will look at a thrift store. Would be awesome to find there What sucks about buying a cheap but decent set is getting them extended and regripped will cost almost as much as the set. Im goimg to try to spend no more than 10 for a 6 and 7 iron, then 11 each for grip an extend. and  don't forget ebay.  I was looking for a one iron to complete my set of Hogans. Found one listed for $12 OBO. I got it for $9 and did not even have to bid. Just be careful of shipping charges, try to find a seller who will pay the shipping. FWIW, I got an entire set of Hogans for $129. Liked them so much I sold a set of practically new Adams Tight Lies, bag and all.

    • Of course there's not a simple or knowable answer here. But the whole Caitlin Clark phenomenon is a nice example IMO. Suddenly there was wall to wall media coverage and national attention and... the women's tournament got similar ratings to the men's and much higher ratings than the men in the final four. With every indication that there will be some portion of the uptick that remains going forward. And there's the whole element that Sue Bird brought up. That basketball needed a pretty enough white superstar guard. One who looks like the "cute little white girls" that describes most of the soccer USWNT that's been able to achieve much higher popularity than any version of women's basketball, which is dominated by black players and none of any race who could be described as little... I do think women's sports are in a good place to start taking off more though. It's really only in the coming 5-10 years that the majority of girls will start to come of age with post Title IX grandmothers (as in their grandmothers were allowed to be serious athletes). I don't follow men's or women's basketball much, but in golf for sure the women's tour has gotten much deeper over the past 20 years and only looks to keep going in that direction. I've heard the same about women's basketball. And the patriarchal attitudes that socialized girls out of sports and everyone out of women's sports fandom aren't gone but have def diminished.

    • I have nothing to add other than I freaking love her swing and I think she's hot as hell and some of my golfing buddies disagree so I fought them
    • I’m not sure I agree. It’s just what the majority find more entertaining. Most people prefer women’s gymnastics over men in the Olympics. How much hype is there with the men’s compared to the women’s? I bet you can rattle off several big names in women’s gymnastics and only a handful of men. Women’s tennis …same thing. And sure enough, their purses are the same. However, WNBA, awful…LPGA, not near as much interest than PGA. Don’t think it’s really that complicated IMO.
