I tend to think more about my back swing than the actual target Im trying to hit. Before I approach the ball I think of the target and where to land but in the swing my thinking about my swing... This happen to anyone else curious what other rhythms golfers go though

My stock swing thoughts before last weekend was Path & Speed. Just thinking about the word path literally puts me on a more proper swing plane/path. And the word speed reminds me that the club is actually going its fastest a split second after you hit the golf ball (from what I've read), this causes me to delay a bit and get better lag.

However, I just had a swing evaluation from Golf Tec where the instructor broke down all the terrible parts of my swing and had me think about two new things so I can correct my issues. My left knee was far too active, it was ridiculous, my first swing thought now is to imagine my left foot as a 2 ton weight. Apparently it's helping, left knee is more static and more weight on left side at impact. Next swing thought is to start the down swing when I think my left arm is parallel to the ground. I never actually start the downswing at this time, but just the thought has put me in a better position, apparently I was over-rotating or my back swing was a little wild and past parallel or something.

I have to change swing thoughts like every other month depending on how my miss-hits are. But I tend to come back to the word "Path" a lot.
