I've been Playing Golf for: 14 years

My current handicap index or average score is: 90

My typical ball flight is: High, Higher, Straight , Slice

The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: Wedges

A little more info, my shots to appear to go straight for the most part but I haven't been able to control if it will go left or right. I feel like I line up correctly but pull the ball straight left or I'll push the ball straight right. This is mostly with my irons. The ball flight is higher then most people I golf with.

I'm pretty long with my clubs and if I had a game inside 120 yards I could probably take 8 or 9 off my handicap. Case and point par 4 this past weekend was left with 20 yards after tee shot got a 7 with a 2 putt.

I will get some videos with my driver, I believe I have the most to improve there.

I'd check your grip, looks a little palmy, will help with solid contact on those wedge shots.

And this

Thanks for the links mvmac! Just after I posted I started looking at other members swings and found the link about griping the club. I did go to the range yesterday but the camera wasn't working. I found it wasn't to much of a change to grip the club properly. Also I challenged myself to attempt flighting my wedges and found I became more consistent with them, at the range, with a 3/4 backswing.

I did also notice that I did better when I focused before my swing "Not to move my head" and "Let the wrist lag"

Tomorrow I'll be playing 36 holes and will get some updated shots with the proper grip and some with the driver.

I forgot the memory card for the camera at home in the computer, I didn't get any footage but felt that I was striking the ball better. I will say that reading the link about flighting my wedges improved my game more then anything in the past few years. I always knew what club I was hitting between 20 and 125 yards where before those links it was a crap shoot. Also I was on target with them very consistent with the distances that they were hitting.

I shot back to back 93's. First round 6 pars, 5 bogeys, 6 doubles, and 1 triple or worst. 38 puts with 6 G.I.R.(4 of 6 converted to pars). 6 3 putts, 8 2 putts, 4 1 putts. Hit 4 fairways and 1 penalty stroke.

Second round 4 pars, 9 bogeys, 4 doubles, 1 triple or worst. 39 putts with 3 G.I.R.(1 of 3 converted to pars). 6 3 putts, 9 2 putts, 3 1 putts. 5 fairways hit and 0 penalty stokes.

The course is wide open and very few spots for OB/Hazards/Water. Most other courses in the area I have a couple more Penalty strokes then this.

I'll post more videos in the next day or two with an updated swing. Huge help MVMAC thanks!

Here is an update video. Its a couple caddie view swings and a couple down the line views all in one video. If this is an issue I can split them back up.

That grip still looks weak and a little palmy to me. With your setup, notice how the left arm is more bent and the left hand looks like it's rotated "under" more than the right pics. So when you take your grip, left hand heel pad on top, grip is in the fingers and the left arm "hangs" straighter.

Updating this thread as I'm using it some what as a journal for my swing progression. I started an account at Evolvr and can't wait to get a response from those guys. I'll post videos here from time to time so I have a repository of my swing progression.

I've been working on making that grip stronger. Seeing it beside the other picture, I can see what you are talking about and I think I'm better now then what I was.

I think you are going to like Evolvr. One of the first things they may have you adjust is flaring your feet a bit more at address. This will help keep your back swing turn keep centered and improve rotation. Good luck and keep us posted.

Awesome, good luck with Evolvr, keep us updated.

Thanks, I will. Do you mind taking one more quick look at my last Caddy View video and see how my grip is there? Would appreciate it.

  • 5 weeks later...

Updating my swing thread. I'm linking my youtube videos from Evolvr. I'm still working on getting the weight forward. More practice was prescribed. The first video was about a week and a half to two weeks out from my first video. It was also more to make sure I was on the correct path, quick and shot with my phone. The second video was about the same time frame apart but had a lot more practice in between.
