Curious what thoughts people have on used sets of Ping i200 vs i210s.  I wasn't necessarily in the market for irons but hit some i210s at a pga superstore a few weeks back and fell in love with them.  I have not hit the 200s...but from what I've read and seen they look very similar.

I typically buy used sets...cost is not necessarily a concern its more of a peace of mind thing and i200 fall more in line with what I'm comfortable spending.  I have no problem spending more money though if the i210s are worth it.

Everything I've read or watched has basically sounded like this:

"If you're in the market for an iron set and choosing between the two buy the i210 as they're preferred and are some improvements over the i200.  But if you already own the i200 its really not worth it as they're very similar."

Several videos I've watched where you tubers were testing the two and the stats side by side confirmed the same thing.

My other dilemma is per Ping's color charts I fall into the red color code, and there's not as much used inventory on those out there as say a black.  So when I find a good deal on either which I think I have (i200) I really want to jump on it...but part of me thinks I won't be happy unless I get the i210.  Given what I'd be upgrading from, I'm sure I'd be happy with either.

So just curious...anyone else battled with something like this lol?  Or have guidance/input on which way to go?  I have never been fitted and doubt I will go that route...so just putting that out there too.

Thanks!

JB

Hello and welcome to TST! I can certainly give you my two cents on this as I have played both clubs as well as the i500’s. I honestly think if the price is better for the i200’s go for them! I had been playing the i200’s and when the i210 & i500’s came out I had to try them being a Ping fan. The i210’s felt pretty much the same to me as the i200’s...maybe a little softer feel with the  i210’s.  I foolishly got the i500’s because I was hitting them a little further. But I made the mistake of letting that cloud the fact that they didn’t feel near as nice to hit as the i200 or i210.

I ended up selling the i500’s and am very happy with my i200’s. I don’t think you’d find anything about the i210’s to justify spending more really. Oh, and I play red dot as well!

@mvmac has good knowledge on these clubs and is a much, much better golfer than I am. I think he’s a +3 or +4 so maybe he can throw some stuff in here as well. Cheers!

Thank you for feedback!  Turns out I waited too long and the 200s I was looking at are gone lol.  That is good to hear though and confirms what I was thinking so will keep that in mind when the next deal comes around.  Thanks again!

I bought a new set of i200's last year and love them.  Great irons.  Typically the immediate replacement models (i210) are a minor incremental upgrade.  If you jump two or three models you may notice more difference.  If you only find black dot irons and need red dot, you can send them back to Ping and they will adjust and paint the dot for a fairly cheap fee. A friend had this done and I believe he paid about $35 including shipping.

    • Day 11, 1/11/26.  Today was putting, along about 6' of carpet, with coins on the ground to keep me cognizant of what I'm doing.  I think this is the at-home drill from LSW. (Ugh, missed two of the last four days -- 1/10 and 1/8)

    • Day 468 - 2026-01-11 Loooooong day. Did some work in the patio door (as a mirror) when I got home.
    • I caught a video on this driver; the face tech seems crazy. Looking at the heat map for ball speed, hitting it basically anywhere on the face only loses a few percent ball speed. The surprising and counter intuitive part to me was that for flat faced clubs, ball speed loss is directly proportional to distance loss. For clubs with bulge and roll this is apparently not true. The surprising part of that story being that the max distance potential looks to be a tiny pee sized area for this driver, and I feel in general for drivers. The counter intuitive part being (the myth?) that blade irons have a pee sized sweet spot and missing that tiny spot causes dramatic losses. And that modern drivers, maybe 2017 on, have massive sweet spots and are ultra forgiving. Where in reality, if this heat map data is valid and reliable, it might be a bit of the opposite. This insane tech driver appears to have a pea sized "sweet spot" while Mizuno Pro 241 irons are 28% more forgiving compared to the average of all clubs measured. Not compared to other players irons, compared to all clubs from all categories, players to SGI! The Pro 241 being essentially just a solid chunk of metal with no "tech" at all. Which for me devolves into a whole mess of what is forgiveness really? And in measurable and quantifiable results how many yards, or feet, does that translate into?
