Hi guys. I’m based in the UK and planning to start ticking off my bucket list courses. First up is TPC Sawgrass, which I’m planning to do solo. I have no mates willing to shell out for the trip and a 1 year old daughter so the wife will stay home with her.

Has anyone stayed at the Sawgrass resort solo before? I’m fine with playing with strangers, but I’m not sure the resort will be great for a solo. Would be spending 5 days there.

Lastly, any recommendations for other courses in that area? Is the valley course worth it?

Thanks in advance!

The PGA hall of Fame is nearby, as well as the two courses on the property- "The King and The Bear" and "The Slammer and The Squire". That area is filled with other things to do for all kinds of people. St. Augustine has it's history. A reasonable drive away is Cape Canaveral and The Kennedy Space Center (which, IMO, is a cant miss if you're that close).

You won't be wanting for something to do or somewhere to play. Maybe you will catch on to a group of buddies on their own trip and make some friends that way. Happened to me in Myrtle Beach one year, I met up with some guys and wound up playing with them a couple of times the rest of the week.

Was planning a trip to the hall of fame, although I’ve not consider the space centre. That’s actually a great shout. Thanks!

No problem- if you go to the KSC, try to book online ahead of your visit if you know which day you want to go. It's very popular, and you may have to wait around for hours to get on a bus tour if you just show up. If not, check with the concierge at the resort, they might have connections.

Look at the courses just south of there in Palm Coast as well.  The Conservatory is a personal favorite.

Less 45 south, just off the highway in Daytona is also LPGA International, with 2 good courses and an outstanding practice facility.

    • Day 159 1-19 Flow drill while attempting to add arch in wrist on downswing. Not where it needs to be but felt good working on swing flow.
    • Day 1 (19 Jan 26) - after a week lay-off due to travels, felt great to get in some drills in the backyard today.  Started with lead arm only short pitches focused on squared face and light divot post ball.  Haven’t done this in a while and it showed, with some skulls and slices.  Settled into easy flighted balls - wrapped up with standard two handed swings.  Good restart to the daily drills.
    • That depends what you do within those two.  Are they your only options?   Check out Fit for Golf if you get a moment.  It's linked on the sidebar;  I did it for two years, stopped for a really bad reason, and I plan to get back to it soon.   Mike Carroll also has a great free podcast about a lot of topics in golf fitness.
    • Day 19, 1/19.  Finished work in time to spend 25 minutes hitting balls (hit 15) indoors, off a mat, into the net.  Usual focus.
    • Day 30 - 2026-01-19 Got 10 minutes in on the mat / net working on exagerrating movements I'm working on. And grip. Also worked with my friendly AI to summarize key negative tendencies I have so that I can build a personal checklist to follow. Will do more mirror work tonight.
