Etiquette question - jumping holes

You did great. Jumping holes is very poor etiquette.

However, only a non-serious golfer, likely to be totally ignorant of proper etiquette, would do so anyway. How could you get an honest score for your round if you jumped? Go back and make up the jumped hole?

Another problem I have frequently encountered is the bully group that wants to play through when the whole course is playing slow and everyone is waiting on someone else. They are like tailgaters, if you don't let them play through they will be playing into you and pressing you the rest of the round.

I like to tell them to go for it so they will be pressing someone else and then tell a Warden who they are and what they are doing. A good Warden will let them go directly to the 19th hole.

At my home club (in Germany) it is allowed to start your round on the 10th hole, if there is space for you to fit in. We interpret this as meaning that - if the flight playing the 9th hole is on or around the green, you wait and let them play through. If they haven't hit their approach shots yet, and there is no-one on the fairway within driving range, it's ok to jump in. This would basically also apply to skipping holes and jumping in anywhere on the course. On every course I have ever played on in Europe, any group playing the normal sequence of holes always has "right of way".

Yep. Handled better than I would. I will jump holes every now and then, but never in front of another group if I would hold them up in any way. I mostly play at twilight and am pushed to get 18 in. I don't want anyone jumping holes in front of me that would cost me to finish a round. Same holds for me. When daylight is running out, I will often jump from 14 to 17 if no one is on 16.

My previous course had several small 'loops' that start at the car park and end up back there that were nice for those times when there's no time for a full round, e.g. 1-2-9-10, 1-2-3-6 etc. Any time I decided to do one of those I'd always make sure there was nobody on the previous hole inward of 150 yards to give myself a few minutes to get ahead and not hold anybody up. If I did end up being caught up (a rarity!) I'd wave them on and stand aside for them to not be held up.

The way I see it is they're playing a "proper" round whereas I'm just practicing, therefore they have priority.

Let's say a group (call them Group A) jumps to an out-of-order hole because they're tired of waiting for the group(s) in front of them. They find an empty hole and tee off, but as they're doing so the group from the preceding hole (call them Group B) comes up to the tee box. Is it reasonable and/or proper etiqutte to expect Group B to wait while group A plays out the hole, or should Group A pick up their tee shots and jump to another hole?

They should pick up and move on. If someone jumped in front of a group, they had better be way faster than those they jumped.
