Not to get confused with the earlier discussion about men's soccer v. women's soccer overall, but as far as the US sides go, comparing the USMNT and USWNT is kind of silly.

The U.S. has been in the forefront of competitive women's soccer. Keep in mind the first FIFA Women's World Cup occurred in 1991, so it hasn't exactly been a long history. With its jump, the US has a deeper talent pool and the best programs to develop that talent.

US men's soccer, by contrast, was decades behind the rest of the world when people started getting somewhat serious about it in the 1990s. I'm not altogether sure I saw a match until the 1993 World Cup. In any case, top male athletes generally don't play the sport in the US and the programs to develop the talent aren't there yet.

I'm really not sure how they can be considered arrogant. Given the recent run of form, they appear rather the opposite to me.

Arrogant in that they go rogue when they play and don't follow the game plan. Too much individual deviation and trying to win it by themselves. Maybe selfish is a better term.

Yep. I agree somewhat with arrogant in that they’re not very talented but think they are. Altidore is awful. He’s fast but has no boot. Brazil gets out there and peppers the goal with shot after shot. Obviously you have to have a well formed defense but without an aggressive offense with talented strikers you’ll just be good at losing by small margins what is exactly what the USMNT has done for years. Times they’ve been up 1-0 and what did they do? Shut down the offense and piddle around in the Midfield while getting relentlessly drilled with shots from teams that go for broke only to lose 1-3 and think they played a sound game. It’s maddening.

    • Day 198: went to a simulator for an hour. Played blackjack National and shot 77. Then worked on backswing stuff for a bit, and it went pretty well.
    • Day 123 - 2025-01-31 Busy day building a website, some images, and doing Evolvr. So… some mirror stuff while waiting on some things a few times throughout the day.
    • Day 14: 1/31/25 Plenty of putting practice today - early morning, at lunch and this evening.
    • Day 11 (31 Jan 25) - Played in the Friday men’s group today.  Had some really good swings with the  Feruga shafted driver, pretty solid with the putter (not the AI One Milled but the broomstick style NMG Ab) and okay wedge game.  Was a day of up and down pars  (5 of the 6 front side pars were such).  Finished with a 40 on the front.  Then the wheels got wobbly on the back - made a mess on a number of holes closing with a 49 by trading those 5 up and down pars for 5 doubles on the back….while it was a struggle to not get frustrated, it was just a reminder that the game can spin on a single shot.
    • Man - I know that spiral….played several holes that way today….
