I have mentioned that my usual driver is a low hook. In a round this weekend I noticed something else begin happening. I was topping the ball. In a couple of cases, the ball actually left a divot just a couple of inches past the tee. Amy thought on how the two might be related?

Well, a low hook is not really any kind of a quality shot.  But the fact that it is low indicates that you are already hitting high on the ball.  Try raising the tee.

There is good chance you are stopping your body rotation and coming over the top.  If your body rotation stops, then club can and swing dramatically to the right.

To be honest a low hook and a top indicate you're hitting too far up, like 7 or 8 degrees. The fix is a simple drill I learned: Clip the tee with a driver. Without a ball. Barely knock it forward, almost barely tilt it. Swing at full pace doing this and learn to do that over a week or two. Once you're used to it put a ball on the tee and replicate the feeling.

Be patient with this, but it shouldn't take but a week or two.

Under 'Swing Thoughts' there is a good lesson on hitting the driver. I copied and pasted the link for you, but it is easy to find. I found it to be very helpful correcting some of my driving errors. Have you seen it?
