Purchasing Used Golf Balls

That paper really doesn't answer the questions other than don't buy refurbished or refinished balls. A while back one of the magazines submerged balls for 6 months and then hit them. A 2 piece ball lost 8 yards while a 3 piece lost almost 15. It is totally unclear what happens if the balls would have been dried out for a month before being hit. I would expect some performance change but I have no clue what it would be.

The used ball guys put out papers like

I put about as much faith in those studies as I do the ones by golf ball makers. None

Personally I play used balls for practice/casual rounds and bust out the new ones for league play.

I pay $2 a dozen at the range but he's raising it to $4 next spring. And this is for random range balls, nothing has been sorted or graded. I'll definitely be giving Knetgolf some business when I run out.
