I already have a US passport and it's not gonna expire in awhile, but I dragged my butt in to get the upgrade to Real ID anyways, I figured maybe it might come in handy, but I'm struggling to come up with a reason. While it's moot as I already upgraded, what's the advantage of a Real ID on your driver's license if you already hold a passport? Don't plan on going into any federal facilities.

Kill slow play. Allow walking. Reduce ineffective golf instruction. Use environmentally friendly course maintenance.

I can't answer that question other than the passport is an extra piece of ID required to be carried if you fly (travel outside the US).    I have the Real-ID, my wife decided the passport would be sufficient for her..;-)

So I don’t drive 75 minutes to the airport and then realize I forgot to grab my passport as I was packing or walking out the door. So I have one less thing to keep track of going through TSA. So I feel a little more like I’m in the USA than in 1970s Europe.

Makes good sense. Laughing at the 1970s Europe bit.
