If I remember correctly, the distance between Tiger and Phil is greater than the distance between Phil and number 1000. Don;t get me wrong, I would love to see it happen. I wouldn't mind sseing Phil get kicked out of the 2 spot by Els or Stricker, just to shake things up once in a while.

Nobody is catching Tiger anytime soon. I don't have the numbers in front of me but the gap is huge! Anyways, I'm really happy for Ernie though. Hard not to pull for him. Besides the golf world (uhh, Tiger Woods) needs the competition. Looks like Ernie's on his way back!

I think best Els can hope for is to distance himself from 4th place. Catching Phil and Woods is no realistic in my opinion.

Ernie Els I think is definitely better player than stricker. But the one person who i think needs to step up and move in to a higher position is Vijay for all the tournaments he plays in what is he doing??

I think that Ernie certainly has the game to overtake Phil at number two and would not be surprised if he does that this year - whether he can ever get to the level of Tiger is highly unlikely! Good to see the Big Easy back on form again though!!

He played in the Mid-East and made a complete mess of the final hole. A birdie would have (may have?) won it but he went for an eagle and plopped it in the water. You could see him losing it down the stretch but his win in the Honda Classic may have begun to steady the nerves.

I agree that Ernie could get up to number 2. I also think that on the right day he could take Tiger, but on that day Tiger couldn't be having his best day ever. We almost saw him do so at the Dubai Classic, but he choked on the last hole, while Tiger holed a huge birdie putt on the last hole. He obviously has the game to do it, but it remains to be seen if he can "get it done".

it sure was nice to see Ernie's reaction(s) after the win. smiling,laughing, don't see that even after wins in the past. i always thought because of his heritage, was it arrogance of some sort, or perhaps he's just not a happy guy. whatever it was(yes i know about his son too), his management team should jump on this and encourage this new "human" Ernie to carry on.

I think I'm more amazed to see Stricker holding the #4 position. Just seems like there are better golfers out there that should be residing in that spot.
