Hey guys,

The season officially started for me this past week. Started hitting my new clubs, the MP-67s (awesome clubs!). I have spent around 14 hours already playing and hitting balls at the range. this week. I also developed a bruise on my left hand (I am right handed). I realized later why I got this bruise but wanted to see if you guys could guess I how got it from the pics.

My first guess would have been you slammed one of your new clubs on your hand while putting it back in your bag.

However considering you mentioned 14 hours of use (minus time traveling between shots while playing), the fact you posted this in the swing tips forum, and the fact you didn't realize how you got it until later would lead me to believe it is the result of a flaw with your grip.

those are called "teenager hands" from hormones getting pumped into the veins

They will beat their swords into golf clubs and their spears into putters. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore. Old Tom Morris 2:4

That bruise looks like the end of a handle to me. I'd assume you are holding the very end of your club with your left hand.

Avid Golfer, that's a great guess. It's partly due to a poor grip (way too neutral) and swinging way too hard while holding the club too tightly. I also hold the club at the very end... I have now switched to a stronger left hand grip and I try not to hold the club too tightly. It's been a work in progress... with my old makeshift yet comfortable grip my iron shots were pretty much in the middle of the face of each club... now each shot is closer to the toe (I am losing about 2-3 yards on each club now), although still near the middle of the club. I try to work on tempo, alignment and just getting used to this grip...

on another note, I am left handed but learned to play right handed so I tend to be left hand dominant, I can hit draws and fades but if I am off I tend to hit slight fades on my irons cause I can't seem to release very well. Does that make sense?

Last, one of the things I'd like to buy is a club/grip that will align my hands in the proper grip, any advice as to which one is most helpful?

Something like this without the swing setter part? http://www.tgw.com/customer/category...TEGORY_ID=5946

or this?

I guess I can just buy a grip like this and attach it to one of my old 6 irons...

Any advice would be appreciated, even if it's just to say "go get lessons" - I have been considering this...

Haha, you are the exact opposite as me.

I am naturally right-handed, but I play golf left-handed (but I still chip/putt right-handed).

My "natural shot" is a fade that resulted from months of correcting a severe slice I had while learning the game.

My theory on this is that it has something to do with our dominant hands pulling the club instead of pushing it. I only say this because when I golf right-handed, I hit the same shot (a draw from the right, fade from the left).

And no, I have no proof that this is the case... it has just been my observation.

I can't really help you on the grip... mine's ugly, but it works and my hands don't hurt after 18-holes (I use a reverse over-lap).

This happens to me when I try and hit a cut, I get too handsy and don't trust the alignment. That and slamming the club into the ground when I come over the top for the fourth straight ball.

Sometimes when I go to the range I get a bruise on my right hand, but thats just from beating my fist on the ground when I am on my knees pleading with god to let my hit a descent shot.
