Ive played a lot of amateur golf. High School -Pittsburgh Tour events Heritage Tour stuff like that--Ive seen one consistent. Titleist dominating bags of amateurs. Most Titleist guys play the clubs head to toe. While at Oakmont there are a lot of members who play Titleist. Its pretty overwhelming how much Titleist is played by amateurs. They have a really good marketing strategy and are the best at getting the younger crowd into their clubs, so they stay loyal. Also i went to a college invitational and wouldnt believe the amount of Titleist clubs there. It was unbelievable. Credit to Titleist marketing

"People think the size of the head is most important. Wrong. It's getting a quality shaft. test different shafts to see which goes the straightest. Also, more degrees of loft on the head is better than less. Eleven degrees is about right."

I think that you hit it on the head with the marketing as they really try to be the "better player's club". This applies to the competitive amateur because they are either in that category or trying to get there.

They are also very classic in their design and that appeals to good young players imo.

I work at the pro shop at Western Illinois University, and a lot of the guys on the team like Mizuno for irons, but other than that, it's mostly Titleist and Taylormade. Tim Streng, our All-American from last year is a pretty loyal Titleist guy.

True, I'm 15 and like how classically designed their drivers/woods still are (not talking about thier 2008 iron likeup though ). Once I start to get better within the next few years and start playing some major junior/amateur tournaments, I would not mind playing all Titleist, aside from the irons which will most likely stay Hogans. Very elegant and classic. A few people on my golf team already have full Titleist bags, just a little steep pricewise for me right now, ESPECIALLY the Scotty putters. But overall great clubs.

I've always viewed Titleists as better players' clubs. I had Titleists back when I was in HS and on the golf team. Once I graduated and hit college, my handicap skyrocketed. Now I'm married with kids and know I need game-improvement clubs.

I think there's just a perception that if you have Titleists, you're a serious golfer. No one will question your equipment.

Titleist equipment in golf is like having a Rawlings Pro Preferred glove in baseball...if you have it, people assume you're a player.

I'm however, a more of a "new wave" kinda guy. I wear funky clothes (on the golf course, most, if not all J. Lindeberg, who I have modeled for) and like to stand out. I try out the newest equipment whenever I can and even though I love tradition, i like some edge.

Thus, i commend people who like to try out new stuff while still keeping somewhat of a relationship to the past.

    • Day 38 (18 Dec 25) - got out in the backyard with grandson this afternoon.  We got into a little game of pitching the ball from about 25yds to a target point just off the asphalt lane behind the backyard.  Goal - just clear it with a quick hop and stop.  Focused on using the wedge swing motion I was talking with the course pro yesterday….smooth and thru just bruising the grass.  In addition to a concentrated focus on technique, it also called for a quiet mind locked in on target point.  Rehearsed this with both the 50° and 55° wedges.
    • I listened to the Shaun Webb one about the swing coach app. Sounds like a great thing and will (hopefully) be very useful for me. I do think the hosts are underestimating where AI could be in a few years. Right now it's just regurgitating stuff that it has been told or it has scrubbed from somewhere else and a human guiding things will be quite a lot more helpful than just the AI, but it's going to keep developing and it will reach the stage where it's figuring this stuff out on its own. Time will come when it will have you do a TPI style screen and take various height/arm length/leg length etc. measurements, have you tell it some history and your time constraints and goals and what not and it will watch a video of your swing face on and DTL and it will know exactly what you need to work on.
    • I found it entertaining, but the announcing was lousy.  How did the measuring on the final shot start with Rory being closer and being told he won, and then with no explanation it turns out Scottie won?  Weird.
    • Day 128 12-18 Worked on rotation and getting to lead side. Still working on the flow feeling while doing that. Recorded swings.
    • IMO-the only thing entertaining was the relay race. Everything else was excruciatingly boring...or just  stupid, like the 14-club thing. Watching guys blade wedges into the water over and over is not at all interesting.
