I'm not sure you want your clubhead square the whole time, if you mean square to the target line. This may be just semantics. It must open on the backswing and close on the downswing.

If you mean square to your swing plane, the easiest way is to do nothing with your hands except use them as clamps to hold the club. No twisting them on the backswing, no guiding, no turning or anything like that. Just let them go for the ride.

The more you try to keep it square the more you will slice it....as in nasty slice.

Rotate the forearms through impact and trust it, you will hit it straight and far. A must on the short shots also, as I have recently been working hard on..it will build consistent distance control IMHO.

what i do to ensure a perfect swing, is I imagine a line behind my club that i drag back.

I almost have a drag back swing where my club stays on the ground longer than usual.

Also When i backswing i keep my elbows stiff and dont bend my elbows until the point where I really feel I cannot backswing without bending them. On the follow through, lock your elbows again almost at the point where you bent them in the backswing and follow through straight. Its easier said than done.

    • Some sway is okay as long as you get your weight going forward during transition and downswing. Your weight will go towards the rear foot in the backswing because your arms and club go that way. As you get near the top, you should feel your weight start to move forward. As you transition, the weight should move to the front foot and off the rear. As the arms go down from the top, the body starts to rotate or pivot. At impact, most of the weight should be on the front foot.

    • Sounded like he had the option hit a new ball if he didn’t like the shot, playing scramble with himself. Hitting a new ball meant using an option, which locked him in to that option, but for the hole or round? And what were the options?
    • Day 27: Continued working on top of backswing piece. It was almost dark so didn’t really care about hitting balls so just used Almost Golf balls. Would have liked to film and compare to lesson footage but not enough light.
    • Day 303: worked on chipping for a while indoors. Chipped into my chipping game with foam balls, worked on lower chips there. Did mirror work both with chips and pitches, checking that everything looks okay.
