Hey guys,

I just yesterday received my new MP67's , they have got golf pride tour velvets on them. I was going to get them with multicompund grips but it would have cost an extra £40 ($80) for the 7 clubs. I have been looking at ebay and there is a company called sharpro who do a grip very similar (i think it is meant to be a copy) and i can get 13 grips for £25 ($50) and i was wondering if anyone had any experience with them?

Thanks a lot

To be honest, if you get these other ones for £25 then add the cost of the other items required for fitting, and the time to do it, the extra £15 to have had the grips you wanted in the 1st place would have been the better idea... Now you've effectively paid for grips you didn't want.

No idea about the quality of the ebay grips, although I have seen them advertised a lot on there. Sorry!

It does work out a bit cheaper in the long run as for the money i can regrip all of my clubs (which need doing) rather than just have my 7 irons with the new grips. Thanks for the advice though

Another quick related question, as of the moment all of my clubs are standard grips with 1 tape, i have got big hands, 8" from wrist to finger top and 3.5" middle finger so probably require 3 layers to build the grip sufficiently. Will this adversly affect the swingweight of the clubs?

Thanks for the help

Has anyone used them? I bought a set and put them on last night. I swung them around a bit tonight, (in the house because we have 4 inches of snow outside ). They feel very good, went on nice and look sharp, plus I got them for half the price of the Golf Prides. Hopefully they hold up well.

I picked up 20 of them on Amazon. I use the dual-pro version on my wedges. They are terrific grips, I can't believe the quality vs price ratio. I expected less. Durability so far, seems really good. I will replace them long before they are worn out though.

I can't concieve of 4 inches of snow....much less right now!!!!!!!

I wish we could level out our two state's summer weather, though. It's gonna be nice...around mid / low 80's this weekend here....but in a few weeks it will be crazy hot.

I have not used the Sharpro grips but I used to always put Tour Velvet knock-offs from Kelmac on my clubs. They were great grips when new, but they wore out much faster than the good grips. I don't know if the same thing is true of Sharpro, but even if you have to change them mid-season, you will still break even. Plus you get to use new grips twice.

Keep us posted later in the year, I am curious as to how they hold up.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

I use the multi compound on all of my clubs and they feel as good as the golf pride versions. The only difference is that the colour does run a little, but hey, im not that fussed when i payed one third of the price of the golf prides!

Can you re-grip with just buying the solution, tape, and grips? I don't have a table with a vice grip or anything.

re gripped my wedges first, and really liked them, then i did the same for my hybrids and short irons as i grew more comortable with them and realized that they are great grips..

Yes, you don't need the table and clamp. I have never used one and re-grip once or twice a year. It is easy enough to do by grabbing the club in your hands.

But be sure to re-grip over a sink or in the garage, the solvent will run all over. I've been doing my own grips for years, easy to do, just takes a little time.

This might be off topic a little bit but have you guys ever used Star Grips before?
I was regripping my wedge a week ago and I had the choice between Sharpro tour velvet and Star Grip tour wrap, I went with Star Grip.
I still haven't used it at all so I don't know how good it is.
My achievements:

I use a clamp and vice when changing grips. I use a grip cutter blade for removal. Put a tee in the grip end for sliding on, and push hard and quick, do not stop, and use plenty of liquids. I use charcoal lighter fluid to slide the grips on with.

I think they're knockoffs of the New Decades and I'd just get the real thing rather than potentially waste money on a copycat.
